| Like yan said above, Genetics. Many (not all, and probably not most) inbreed to a certain extent, which causes deformities. Other situations add to the medical problems, malnutrition, poor sanitation... etc. |

| Reason been that poor country's get all the waste or unsuccesfull crap from the developed countries. We are talking toxic chemicals and what-not been used on the farm-lands and unsanitary wastelands that spread who knows what kind of crap into the foods. This poor people are exposed to all this toxic chemicals and more, therefore creating all this wierd illnesses and desfigurations. Same with people around nuclear reactors and what-not. |

Theres places like Vietnam that have horrific problems with cancer and deformities because it had millions of litres of dioxin's dumped on it (72million litres of chemicals where dumped on Vietnam, 40million where dioxins) and those things don't break down for quite a long, long time. There was also testing done in places like Puerto Rico on the island of Vieques which as problems with it as well.
Once the dioxin's get into the water table, then into the food eventually it makes its way up to the top of the chain and continues to cause problems.

Course, the deformed kids are only the unlucky ones who survived, not counting the cancers, ones that where stillborn or didnt live very long after birth. |

that's what they did in scotland for a long time. seriously! And Wales are still at it. Judging by dub-yah, barbara & george senior are family before marriage too...
seriously, some places as lilith said have things that affect it, such as those born within radius of chernobyl have many problems, and those who were lucky enough not to have big cuddly hairstyles instead ;) |
