Michael! Great stuff m8! I first heard of you a few weeks ago when Armin put Ascent in one of his ASOT sets. Amazing track. Keep it up!

| By the way... two weeks ago I was at club Panama, Amsterdam for an Armada party where Markus Schulz was the main act. I actually requested that particular track while he was spinnin'. Shouting my lungs out. But I'm sorry Michael, he only gazed at me with a frown. I got upset and pulled the plug. hehe... Nah joking. But you gotta work on your rep now. :) Hope you don't mind me using the track for mixing? Good luck! |

Lol, id be surprised if he would drop Ascent..... not seen him dj yet, but really want to.. trance energy here i come!.....but is it his kinda thing? BIt happy?
Use it for mixing with? Can i ask how you've got a full copy? If you do have one? |

Markus is part of the Trance Energy line-up? And you are going to be there as well? Dammit, the fact that I'm gonna miss that party because of skiing is eating me more and more every day. Markus plays about the same style as Armin does. In fact, I think Markus is a bit more conservative. Lots of relatively older (but great) tracks. He blew the roof off in club Panama. A-ma-zing!
How did Armin received a copy of Ascent? Did he approach you, or did you send him a copy? I think he has used it twice already. That's a big accomplishment, dude!
I have looked for it on Beatport, but couldn't find it. In my first mix I used a cut from the ASOT set (unfortunately that one had a pitch shift in it). For my latest uplifting trance mix I've used a cut from the mix you've posted here (nice 320 kbps version). I hope you don't mind. People download the mix like crazy and everybody is really positive and ask me questions about your tune.
You can download the 50 minute trance mix (with Ascent) here:

Hope you like it. If you disapprove the use of Ascent, I will remove it immediately. I'm totally confused when it comes to the legal part of distributing mixes. Anyway, keep me informed when you release new records. I would love to help you gain publicity.
Greetings,
Rogier

ps. Don't forget to get tickets for the one-time event http://www.armadanight.com/ in Amsterdam (if you can). |

I guess its okay, not really legal but i've got no fuss with you doing that as its not the whole track anyway.
I sent Ascent to Armin and Armada, along with tonnes of other labels and DJ's. Armin played it straight away on asot and has played it every week on ASOT since then (4 or 5 times now i think!) SO yeah, pretty chuffed! Armada offered me the contract a few days after the first airing of ASOT.
You wont find it on beatport or anywhere yet as its not released yet. in fact i havent even sent them the full final master of it so its a few months off being released yet...
Will keep you updated :) |

this has been sitting on my desktop for a while, only just got round to listening to it :| this generally happens when i have to make the effort to extract stuff before playing it :p
totally awe-inspiring showcase though, it felt nice & varied throughout & there wasn't a single track on here i didn't like.. which for a producer set is pretty damn good going! you seem to have found a great niche for dark, driving full-on trance that retains subtlely without going too hard/psychedelic. some parts i'd class as techtrance, but again they stay on the subtle side & keep that trancey drive about them, which is just how i like it :)
if i was forced to pick a favourite track it would probably be 'there & back again', immense power behind it :eyes: 'orbit', 'junglist' & 'super saw' would come straight after though. i actually thought 'ascent' was the weakest of the bunch, but that's partly because of how much i love the tune in it's original form.. it's still a fairly decent remake though.
how many of these (besides apex & flashpoint) are actually released? i ask because i'm playing out in london next weekend & would love to get my hands on more of your stuff, as it suits my style down to the ground. this question also applies to your remix of dave pl & illicit - crying heavens.. heard it in mark sherry's latest mix & fell in love instantly :D
if you carry on at this standard i can forsee you being one of my top producers of 2007.. very much look forward to new stuff :toothless |
