The point about hindus doesn't even make sense either. Of course the workplace is allowed to tell them to remove their body piercings if that is part of the dresscode for the company, no? They can tell them that without having anything to do with religion as far as i know. Maybe the employer will be more reluctant to tell the person in question because they know of their strong beliefs. But technically, there shouldn't be any difference at all between the body piercing of a non-hindu and the one of a hindu.

its trashy

also they started their business the dude running it can do whatever he wants just like if you started a business you could allow piercings. Why do you people feel entitled to grab a piece of the pie when it was a group of people forging ahead before you and its THEIRS they OWN IT. Thats like bitching that you cant put spinners on their porsche.

You guys are s lol. Does it really matter if someone wears a piercing at work? I used to have my ear pierced and it wasn't a problem at my last job until I actually started. I interviewed with the piercing no problem, I was working there for almost a week without any problem. Then out of the blue my boss says, "oh btw, new policy take your piercing out". I never did :stongue: I just kept saying "oh, sorry I forgot."

Big ing deal, it's just an ring.

Depends on the employer: my last employer had nothing against piercings.

Because in India only women wear nose rings.

If they wear it for religious purposes, the employer cannot tell them to remove it.

i swear to god!

it was some kind of morning ritual, they'd all show up about an hour before anyone else. there was a big discussion about it but in the end they let them do it cuz it was religious or something. most people didn't know, but my Calc. 3 Satellite class was an hour before school started, and I walked in to take a piss once and was like :wtf:

edit: i think they were Islam too, so it's some kind of Islam tradition. maybe someone can clarify... i'm gonna go hit up Wiki, i'm interested.

yah here we go -

quote:
Masah (Arabic ãÓÍ) refers to the act of ritually cleaning the feet or head with a small amount of water before prayer (salat) in the Islamic faith. On the feet, masah can be done over thick woolen or over leather socks known as khuffs, but according to the overwhelming majority of the jurists not on normal cotton socks. This is done when one has put on the socks shortly after previous ritual cleaning (called wudu), without having broken the conditions for that wudu, and time comes for the next prayer. It is then acceptable to wipe the covering of the feet in place of re-washing the feet. It is not permissible to do masah if the socks have significant holes. It is also done over one's headcovering in a similar manner involving the first three fingers. Additionally it is only permissible for a 24 hour period if at home, and 3 days if travelling.

quote:
Wudu (Arabic: الوضوء al-wuḍū', Persian:آبدست ābdast ,often translated as "ablution") is the act of washing parts of the body using clean water performed by Muslims, as part of the preparation for ritual worship, salah. Wudu is often translated as "partial ablution", as opposed to ghusl, or "full ablution".

Its really kind of simple. Your employer owns the business. They can't discriminate against you based on race, religion, age, gender, etc. However if they don't want you looking like a sideshow freak with a bunch of in your face they can say take it out or no job. Having facial piercings is not normal (if you consider how many people have them vs. society as a whole) and unless its a tatoo shop most employers want you to look as normal as possible so their business appeals to the majority of people. Same reason most have a dress code. If you don't like it, don't take the job.

here's the thing tho, what if you get hired with in your face, then like 2 months later they ask you to take it out. that's just gangsta.

i can understand if you get hired clean cut and then walk in one day with a mohawk and all that , then yes your boss has every right to pull out :wtf: on you
