Although Danny Elfman is one of the most influential musicians of our time and arguably of all time, few know that Elfman was the singer/writer/frontman for seminal 80's band, Oingo Boingo. Even fewer people know that in 1983, Elfman did a solo album cleverly titled "So-Lo". This is a remix of the first single off that album, Gratitude.
Although the album was slammed by the critics it is by far one of the finest albums to come out of the 80's and moreover it's electrohouse before there was electrohouse. The entire album has an electronic dance feel and is fueled with drum loops, synthesizers, and all types of strange effects processing. Truly an album ahead of it's time.
Although I am much more into original compositions than remixes I couldn't help but hear where I would take this jam if I was to remix it and it came out amazing. It's nice to goof around in the studio between album tracks and do something a little less serious. Also, I love choosing total curve balls to remix and hopefully turn people on to music they almost definitely would have never heard otherwise.
Hope you enjoy the mix as much as I enjoyed making it.
