| I know that people in the U.S. can get busted for this, but can people in Canada? I don't know the rules here. |

I just got a notice in my university email. It doesn't sound like much, hardly even a slap on the wrists, but has anybody else had experience with this? Has anybody had multiple infringements? |

speaking of "getting better than hiding it" .......
wasn't there a TA a few years back who posted how he crashed his hard drive, because he built a custom hash encryption algorithm and encrypted his whole hard drive ? and he would decrypt it everytime when he starts his computer ? :conf: then he stated he built the algorithm to hide his mp3s ? |

| Just ignore them really, but if they persist tell them you found a trojan on your computer recently and it must have been routing traffic through your IP. |

nothing happened, besides a warning from my isp saying if this happens again, ggnorekthxbai. |
LOL, if anything it hurts the ISP more. One less paying customer for them. |

You want to encrypt your traffic not your files...
Use something like Tor: http://tor.eff.org/
Also, why delete the file from your hard drive? They cant tell if you have or haven't unless they come to your computer personally. |

Thats good for minimizing your chances that you're downloading straight off the RIAA waiting to bust you on the other end... but for anyone at school, your traffic is still very blatantly bit torrent related and the network admins are just as likely to tell you to cut it out. |

A company called SecureIX is offering a free VPN service which allows you to hide your IP address from peers in a BitTorrent swarm or P2P network. Not only that, the service also encrypts and tunnels your data, making it extremely difficult for your ISP to sniff or shape it. More…
