i am in desperit need of help. i have been trying to come up with a proper gate that gives me a hevy rythmic effect. i am told to use a side chaind noise gate in logic to to give it the rythmic flutter that i am looking for but i am not sure on how i go about programing a side chain.

you need to set up a compressor [also turn off 'auto gain'] on a bus track ... send the kick to the bus [make sure you select pre-sender fade] and then select it as the compressors 'sidechain' input ... then send whatever track you want sidechaining to the same bus.

iam not sure if i am set it up proper. first i select a cool pad then i select a a hi hat to trigger it then i bus the 2 tracks and send them to the same bus track. so far i am able to get alittle of the flutter when using the auto filter but nothing with a side chained noise gate.

you know you can use the es1 synth for gating?

use a kick not a hi hat as side chain source

What version of Logic are you using? I could send you an LSO file so you can see how it should be setup.

yes you could probably do with something with a bit more of a transient to trigger the effect
