'above and beyond' sucked beyond measure IMHO for the same reasons others have said, no flow, no progression, no good breakdowns, the set sounded flat, they did played some good tracks, but the dj's work is not only to play good tracks.

thanks to MO for the lifesaver that putted some flavor to the night.

i think the crowd was way pushier because the people wasn't precisely dancing.. and whats up with the sound at guv ? am i going deaf or what ?

I'm with you man, that's why I didn't go. Djs anymore (at least the TRANCE ones coming here) aren't being consistent in making their sets go anywhere. It's like they're just dropping random tunes that are amazing but dont' go anywhere when you listen to the entire set. Anybody can just go up there and play a set of good tracks. It takes a wicked dj to combine them in a way that makes sense and that leads somewhere AND having those tracks be amazing in and of themselves. Even at KvA this was not happening. (at least in the mainroom) :(

While I agree for most part, better than some DJs playing same tracklist over and over and over.

Random IMO is better than predictable.

It was random in the sense that it had no flow, but it was predictable in the sense that we knew what would be played, I was only happy when I heard a few new tunes that have been club plays only, which is ALWAYS a treat.

At times some of these guys take the easy way out and drop the crowd pleasers without any thought...But we have had some great sets recently. Oakie, Markus and Armin all did amazing jobs last time here...The Markus Ottawa set might have been the best thing I have ever heard for shear flow.
The only reason I complain this time is because above and beyond never do that in general. Their sets are always flowing melodic pieces of work. This was just bizarre for them.
Not a bad set, but was harder, less flow, and they split the hell out of there right at 4 am.
Maybe tired?
