No worries, I explained my views on this in the Above and Beyond review thread. Djs can't really make a set flow anymore with the right trance tunes, they exist it's just djs (at least bigname ones) don't feel the need to have the set go anywhere. Djs a few years ago, as far as 2002 combined tracks and had tons of variety in a set, harder sounding tracks, vocal tunage occasionally and melodic sounding songs all fit together to have the set go somewhere. Now they're just randomly slapped together seemingly without thought, this annoys me to no end. I was just telling Flec about this. How I've gone so far as to hear house and techno at parties simply because I can't put up with NONSTOP vocals and melodies/big breakdowns in an entire set. Variety = GOOD.

I was the same way and I still like trance but I'm just SUPER picky about it b/c I've been in it for a long time and understand how a set/style should be put together. House bored me but at least there ar e BEATS in it and melodies are easier to combine with that. Trance songs or vocal trance songs specifically with huge breakdowns are just boring to hear nonstop for 5 hours... |

I saw Datt play with Sean Tyas in NYC about a month ago and it was one of the best nights I have had in NYC.... and I think the ENITRE NYTA board agreed....I have never seen so many TA's out on one night (minus in toronto that doesn't count!)...especially for TRACNE! Hard to get so many NYTA's out for trance so that says something!

i asked thomas and he said he's definitely interested in spinning in toronto
i sent a demo of datt's stuff to john tang (ezekiel) and never got a reply back. i guess datt is not bigtime enough for a place like the guv, but i think he'd be great with those trance nights with multiple djs. |

It is called "trance" addict so if someone likes a "trance" (or any other sort of EDM track) all the more power to them to share how much they like it.
EDIT: I love Thomas Datt. I don't think Alone got enough attention, I'll have to check Distance out. |

Hmm, I guess I just wasn't listening to the right sets then. I loved that track, and when I hear it, I think to myself, why do I not listen to this track more often. |

+1. Very, VERY few who can do it... even fewer in a club. |

It used to be a lot more my friend, I'm guessing MOSTLY because pre 2000 the djs who are now synonymous with trance had to actually work at what they do whereas now they just play whatever the they want. |
