I got this on Saturday. For those interested, this is not strictly A DVD, it's a compilation of Trance Energy 2002 tracks with a FREE dvd included. So be aware of this. One side of the disc is an audio cd, you turn it over and it has a dvd on the other side.
Tracks Included On The Audio CD side are:
1.Intro
2.Svenson & Gielen - We know what you did
3.PPK - Resurrection
4.Katana - Gemini
5.Nexus II Vicious
6.Bas & Ram - Protocol
7.Yahel - Massive Control
8.Blank & Jones - Desire
9.DJ Air - Alone with me
10.Rising Star - CLear Blue Moon
11.Morph - Maximum Overdrive
12.Wavetraxx - The Rithem
13.Pandemonium Project - The Active Building
14.G&M Project - Feeling The Sunrise
15.Precision & The Freak - The Progress
16.Warp Brothers - Blast The Speakers
17.Solar Factor - Deep Sonar
18.Pale X - Eightball
19.Mario Piu & Fabio MC - Invaders
20.DJ Tiesto - Suburban Train - Cosmic gate remix
21.Comic Gate - Back To Earth
12.Outro
The CD is mixed.
Onto the DVD.......
The DVD is split into 4 main parts
1.Main stage
2.Hard Trance
3.Club Trance
4.Making Of....
Each part has one track by some of the DJs of that genre.
After the track, the DJs give a short interview of several
minutes asking what they think of the event. Only some
of the DJs speak in english, there are no translations
for those not in english.
The DJs performing in each genre/part are:
(Where I recognise it, I have put the track that is shown on the
dvd)
Main Stage
Alex Morph (Morph - Maximum Overdrive Unknown mix?)
DJ Jean (?)
Blank & Jones (Blank & Jones - Desire)
Johan Gielen (?)
Cosmic Gate (DJ Tiesto - Suburban Train Cosmic Gate remix)
Hard Trance
Yves Deruyter (?)
Dumonde (?)
Kai Tracid (Cosmic Gate - Firewire - DJ Scot Project remix)
Bas & Ram (?)
Francois (?)
Club Trance
Marc Van Dale (?)
Bart Claasen (?)
Jurgen (?)
Pronti & Kalmani (?)
(Sounds like the same song throughout the whole clubtrance part)
Part 4 is a montage showing the Trance Energy hall/arena being built
while tracks from the audio cd play. This lasts approx 4 minutes.
The DVD is 41 minutes long, and features various slow mo and panning shots. Some look good, others it focuses on people just standing around looking out of place. Its good to see the DJs at work and
you do get some nice close ups. But the slow motion is annoying, and some of the shots are wasted on boring people when some of the people
who are dancing and looking really into the music are captured only briefly before the camera moves on. I'm not sure about this either, but I don't think the video ties in with the audio, certainly not on some scenes. Its like the music playing is not the same music the video is showing the people dancing to, maybe its just the slo mo thats confused me. Inevitably you get the usual problems of seeing lots of people not doing much, when really the camera should concentrate on the DJ and the people who ARE having fun. The audio
does drop out at several points although this only happens about 3 times in the same set.
Overall the crowd seems to like Dumonde and Blank and Jones best - they get the best response. Personally, I liked Alex Morph best,
the song was a great crowd mover.
People should also note there is NO Rank 1 on the DVD, even
though they appeared at the event.
I hope some of you find this mini review useful and it stops
some of the hype about this release. I was quite dissapointed
at the limited tracks shown. This was because you are not actually
buying the dvd, you are buying the audio cd, the DVD is a freebie.
Others, please bear that in mind.
Interested to hear comments. |

I heard of 2 side disc, but not sure about dvd on 1 side and audio on the other. 2 side disc aren't even popular because then you can't label the CD. If you ever see a disc 1 side dvd with other side audio...tell me!!! |

| I don't think the audio is sync'd because you can see me dancing in the Alex Morph part, and I definetly didn't dance that much to Maximum Overdrive. The reason Rank 1 aren't on it is because they have their own DVD with their Trance Energy performance on it. |

But klawd (the original poster of this thread) wrote that the TE 2002 CD/DVD was double sided w/CD audio on 1 side & DVD on the other side... |

| Yea, I downloaded that video a few weeks back and then encoded it. Then I burned it into a vcd to play on my dvd player. Looks and sounds great on my stereo. Good way to play trance on your t.v. for your friends. |
