The perfect soundtrack to your valentine's day is right here on friskyRadio with DEMI providing the beats of loooove! OK that was cheesy but the fact remains that on this valentine's day, you can't go wrong by putting putting friskyRadio in the background. This mix by Demi is especially personal because it was recorded in a small hotel room in Tokyo Japan after his gig at Womb that night. Its full of tracks that are Demi's personal favourites and something that you would not normally hear him play at a club setting.
The Story behind Room 720
"I left for tokyo that morning when there was the crazy security scare at Heathrow - as u know we were not allowed to carry any hand luggage on board only our passport and ticket - I tried to be mexican styleeee and have a small bag to hold with some essential bits like headphones, mobile and external hard drive as i didn't want to check those in either. NOTHING...everything had to go in...so those little extra things i tried to keep on me got packed in a small box separately.
The flight to Tokyo was probably one of the worst flight experiences I had yet. I remember it being a packed plane and a nasty selection of tv entertainment. On top of that I was sat near the back of the plane near the toilets that more often than not stank thanks to it being given a good seeing to from everyone's back end. On top of that the food was the last dibs available which was pretty much dry vegetables and a roll. Rock & roll baby :)
when we landed, all my bags came through and that box - What I didn't realise at the time was the box was rattling as nothing was packed securely in it so that drive, mobile and all the little extra were rattling on that 12 hour flight. I realised when i checked into the hotel that the external wasn't working now because of that rattling. I was hoping i was going to catch some sleep but instead spent the whole day online trying to find a mac bod to try and retrieve some of the music I needed for that night.
managed to get it working in the end and then frantically burning CD's which seems to be a recurring theme. went to the club and vaguely remember anything but knowing it was sounding like the fastest hardest set I had played. Sometimes the sets can go from one extreme to another and it's something I love - Every gig is going to be different because you simply cannot ever repeat the very same kind of feeling you had say 1 week ago or even 3 mins ago. There's always something very special and unique about every second we live and that's the magic of dj'ing as well.
The night itself was something else and the club stayed open for just over an extra hour. It definitely was one of the most inspiring sets I've ever played and probably the best crowd that night I've played to this day. The madness continued in my hotel room with close friends who had been looking after me. The laptop was still on with a session I had left open. Even with no sleep for almost 2-3 days, I don't know what made me play like that on the laptop as I'm usually so beat from the gigs and travelling but I guess the whole rollercoaster ride of emotions leadin up to that point was enough to make me batter away at the laptop and create what you will be hearing
The mix was something very personal and didn't end up giving this out to many people. Strange to think that that was last summer but still love playing this sometimes when I'm driving or just want to relax a little.
Big thanks for Frisky airing this as it has brought back some truly funny memories from another crazy and inspiring trip over in Tokyo.
I hope you guys enjoy the mix as much as I enjoyed putting it together
one love,
d

Self-effacing is the best description of Demi. A contagiously exuberant character with bags of talent, Demi has made an extraordinary impression on dancefloors the world over. His kindred spirit whose ear for a killer tune has spawned amazing sets and amazing records. His diversity in his performance is both consistent and memorable, always striving to create the whole picture whether over a 2 or 10 hour set. Often found to maintain a steady tempo, Demi works a lot more with the internals of a track to make it 'feel' faster. He knows exactly what he's doing in terms of creating a journey. This organic approach is never over-thought or planned out, but just oozes out of him very naturally and successfully. It is his humbleness and boundless energy which feeds off anybody who comes across this young man
His much publicized spell-binding performances with Tenaglia in NYC, Miami and London, certain key gigs with Pete Tong and Laurent Garnier at Pacha, Ibiza and his beloved Deeper Substance residencies he held in London and in Toronto at Boa for a number of years earnt Demi two separate nominations for `Best Newcomer` and `Breakthrough DJ` at the 2004 DJ Pacha Awards and House Music Awards.
His uber-cool DJ alliance with close friends Desyn Masiello and Omid16B has been gaining momentum since the first event thrown in 2004. Friends drawing inspiration from their rich musical heritage, and direction from their beloved Deeper Substance and Sexonwax music labels, SOS was born of a desire to create synergy. The multifaceted rule of threes helps give balance to scores of compositions and also appears to apply in favour of SOS. 2006 marks SOSs third season, a year when their first SOS compilation mix CD will be unleashed on Ministry of Sounds Sessions series, summer 2006, and an Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 that was broadcast over the WMC on Radio One has already been receiving critical acclaim and is tipped at this stage as a serious Essential Mix of the Year contender.
Demi is now in-demand globally from promoters and a host of the elite DJ's requesting to have him perform alongside them and is widely acknowledged as being one of the rising stars in the global dance music community.
