Changing taste in style, looking for new stuff...

So I've pretty much given up on Trance now, since there's hardly any Trance DJs out there who appeal to me anymore. I've actually been not very fond of most of the stuff coming out for a while now, like beginning of 2003 pretty much. Back in 2005, I downloaded a Nick Warren set from DJMixes2K, which was a Progressive Trance/House set. Ever since then, Nick Warren's pretty much been my favourite DJ. After listening to more of his stuff, I began to appreciate more "Housy Proggy" stuff for lack of a better term. I've got all of his GUs by now, and later also got a copy of Danny Howells GU 027 Miami, which I'm still listening too. Awesome CD. Currently, I mostly listen to Sasha, Digweed, Holden, Nick Warren, and some Danny Howells. But I'm interesting in knowing about other good House DJs with a more experimental style. Another thing that appeals to me about some of Nick Warren's sets is that he throws some Breaks/Progressive Breaks in there too which is a nice way to mix it up. The only breaks DJs/duo that I know of so far and like are Hybrid. I know there's a bunch of people here who listen to alot more than just Trance. So if you guys could name a few of the better DJs ones out there and recommend some mix CDs, that would certainly be appreciate. Just to give you a feel of what I'm listening to these days and some older mix comilations which I like as a feel for what I'm in to at the moment, here's a small list:

Sasha - Global Underground 013 Ibiza
James Holden - Balance 005
Danny Howells - Global Underground 24-7
Nick Warren - Global Underground 024 Reykjavik
Way Out West - Don't Look Now (Bonus Mix CD)
Hybrid - Y4K
Danny Howells - Global Underground 027 Miami
Nick Warren - Global Underground 028 Shanghai
Sasha - Involver
Sasha - Fundacion NYC
James Holden - At the Controls
John Digweed - Transitions
Sasha - Live at Avalon Los Angeles

Elusive - Oslo Nights sets
Jody Wisternoff - Way Out There radio show sets
John Digweed - Transitions radio show sets

I guess that should be enough (and is about it). I've heard some Desyn Masiello and Deep Dish, didn't like eigther one. I think I'm begging to like some Hernan Cattaneo stuff but I'll have to listen to some more stuff by him. If anyone knows of some good Progressive Breaks/Breaks DJs/set/compilations, that would be cool too.

Terje Bakke has some great progressive sets (www.crystalclouds.com). Also try to check out stuff by Clubbervision.

I've got the bottom two. Airdrawndagger is great. Is the first one a mix compilation or a collection of productions?

A friend of mine alo recommended Andrew K and gave me a couple of his sets. It's pretty interesting stuff. Some of it sounded like a combination of Psy and Progressive House. I went to his website and you can download some of his sets from there, just throwing a name out for you guys too.

Its a 2 CD mix compilation. very deep and thoroughly made. with variations of progressive house, breaks, ambient and trance. This one you can listen to over and over again. This is how progressive should sound in my opinion.

Don't worry, if you don't know how to stick through trance you'll give up all the rest one day too... :stongue:

As bad as the majority of trance coming out right now is, there's really no alternative that's much of an improvement. I find solace in the past.

I'm not sure if that was sarcasm or humor. Assuming the former, I like music, not genres/styles. So I see little point in restricting myself to one.

I love the older stuff too, which I still listen to. I just can't stand a good majority of the stuff that comes out these days. With the exception of J00F and M.I.K.E, I can't think of many other Trance DJs who don't bore the crap out of me or make me want to impair my sense of hearing.

i believe you will enjoy this, and particularily the 2nd cd, i'll also further advise you to listen to stuff by Habersham for so called progressive breaks.
