Former NBA Player Tim Hardaway - "I hate gay people." (pg. 2)

A couple of points:

1- he said this statement on the Dan LeBetard Show (based in Miami). For those who don't know who he is, LeBetard is a sports talk show host who cracks me up at times, but other times I think he is a complete moron. He tries to make most of his shows into a comedy fest with fake voices and such. Some are real funny, yet some are obnoxious. So this statement could have been taken "out of context", and Tim Hardaway could have said it as a joke. A bad joke at that, but out of context.
2- this is clearly a "publicity stunt" to boost marketing sales of Amachei's book. They tried to sell the point "first openly gay man in the NBA", but i guess that didn't sell. So they are trying to burn fire under the pot with this plot.
3- although i do not agree with his statement and what he had done, i say respect tim hardaway. he practically invented breaking ankles in the early 90s!

that is all. please continue with your daily activities.

Yes, but what about when some psychopathic gay rights activist takes a shot at him?

No one ever implied the world is going to change, m8 - but his certainly may.

There're two things I hate in this world:

1. People who hate other people.

2. Tim Hardaway.

his teammate, i'm guessing is on his team. he hasn't hurt him, killed him, or whatever. i have an opinion on gays, i keep it to myself. he has an opinion on gays, he lets it out. nobody is getting hurt and i doubt he's going to do anything but just make people who already have problem with gays just say, "mmmmmhmmm, dat man is right," not sway everyone into his thinking

Are you for real? Do you realize how ing idiotic your post is? No one is getting hurt?

"And I think the majority of players would ask for him to be traded or they would want to be traded...If you have 12 other ballplayers in your locker room that are upset and can't concentrate and always worried about him in the locker room or on the court it's going to be hard for your teammates to win and accept him as a teammate.''

Now, tell me, do you honestly believe that this bigoted basketball player thought that his comments were compliments? Then again:

quote:
"Yes, I regret it. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said I hate gay people or anything like that," he said. "That was my mistake."

We can see just how ing idiotic this guy really is.

By your logic, anyone who spews random nonsense into media should be respected. Just because "they have something to say". You are truly an ignorant douche.

as for massive fallout, do you think Tim Hardaway will ever even be asked to come by for a shot at one of those analyst gigs they hand out to former players like free condoms to college freshmen? No. Do you think he's going to have any sort of basis on which to market himself anymore, as every former athlete does, allowing them to milk those 10-15 years for millions and millions for the rest of their lives? No. So, he's not going to get his family killed, but he just tossed away at least a few million dollars for no reason whatsoever--he didn't have to do the interview, let alone talk about that or in the way he did. I'd say that's pretty massive fallout for him.

Getting a little ahead of ourselves, are we not? Nobody is going to care a week from now. Who the is this guy anyway? I've never heard of him, so I think you're overestimating his influence a bit.
