When I studied I had to study in silence, I couldn't listen to music, it just didn't work for me. Failing that, classical is probably the way to go.

It's pretty soft songs, and I don't blast em, I dunno but it does help me get the work done. It's almost impossible for me to work without music. |

| I can't study alone without listening to music. It calms me down somehow an gets me more focused on the task. But I have heard that music containing vocals (specially vocals in a language you're very familiar with) can distract you, so that's probably a thing to avoid. |

| I like listening to music because it cuts off all the external noise and lets you concentrate. Has to be something unintrusive and stripped down though, else you get drawn into it. Plastikman has served me well when revising. |

I like more ambient, downtempo stuff. A lot of times I just go to www.di.fm and play the ambient or lounge radio. That way I don't have to worry about picking songs for any period of time, its automatic and I can focus entirely on the books.
When I do use a CD its something extremely ambient like John Serrie type stuff, b/c any sort of melody or build-up throws me off. Sometimes I just study to the sound of ocean waves, you'd be surprised how soothing that can be. ;)
Also about all the grouches on this website, you'll just have to get used to it. Some people here seem to have a permanent stick up their ass, and enjoy finding threads they don't like so they can make bitter posts in them because they have too much time on their hands. |

Ambient=best study music. Something like Brian Eno, you don't have to focus on the music but just have it on in the background...helps me study at least. |
