also, one time i mixed Red Bull with white wine. it was good. |
Haha, that's so funny...pinot grigio is my favorite white. I don't usually drink white wine, but when I do it's a pinot grigio.
I know for sure when it comes to red I'm not much a fan of shiraz, but perhaps I need to have it with food to appreciate it. Can never lose with merlot or cabernet sauvignon though!
Mmmmmm now I want some! |

ew. Problem with wins is that it's too bitter.
I end up making this face when I drink it:

| I really like wine and know a decent amount about it. Always trying to learn more though. |

the climate, the region, the type of grape (or blend of grapes) (pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, rioja, chianti, sangiovese, camenere, malbec etc), the soil or grave, the aging, the barrells and the spices or any other ingredients contribute to how the wine tastes.
usually really cheap or wines that havent been preserved in the correct temperature (9-11 degrees celcius for whites and 14-16,17 degrees for reds) are or will eventually become bitter.

you know, that is so true, it is really hard to find a lower priced wine that is really good. :( but then the two I posted in the start of the thread are low end priced and really good. |

| Thing is.... I've had wine all around the world, cheap and expensive, and I still don't like it at all. White or Red still makes me blaaahhhh! |

i could drink wine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. it helps with digestion, and it has antioxidants which prevent heart malfunctions. the new nutrition pyramid actually recommends a daily glass of wine. the best part is that there is so much to choose from, so it never gets old. i think for some people it might be an acquired taste, but eventually you learn to appreciate it..its the nectar of the gods afterall.
tricia, if you can find it you should try Terrazas 2004 Reserva Malbec, Argentina. It has a very smooth finish, which means you wont feel it bitter at all. |

same here, I work the 3rd shift (11pm- 7am) and when I get home nothing is better than a glass of red. A Chianti, Cabernet Sauvignon or a nice room temp Shiraz. Besides the crazy looks I get when I walk out on my balcony to take in the rising sun, it is the way I am. :)
Its like no one ever seen a man drink a glass of wine at 7am in the morn. |

| I'm a rum guy myself, but I can appreciate a sweet white with chicken or salad. Otherwise, bleh. |

I might be a snob, but I am a little unorthodox. A lot of people say and live by some certain code.....
Red with sertain types of foods and whites with this type... screw that! I love the red... :D anytime with any meal |
same here. just started getting into whites, but i hate chard...only pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc...i like fruitier, crisp whites. not the buttery dry kind.
kim crawford sauvignon blanc is my favorite
love shiraz and cab and noir... |

Over here they have a guide that is released yearly with all the best wines that are available at supermarkets. They are all even within a certain budget, I believe. I assume there's something likewise available in the US..
As for me, Italian all the way. Not too fond of the heavier reds and sweet whites.. I like mine light, fresh, a tad fruity (for red) and fresh and dry (for white).
Wouldn't consider myself being even close to a snob though. I know far too little about wine for that. |
