hey all, ever get out of promoting and partying for a while. Then you find yourself in some dead end job, trying to figure out how the hell you got there? Okay so how the hell do you get out of that situation??!?!?

I know I just need to get out there, but I can't seem to find the right motivation. Any tips get the motivation juices flowing?

Quit your job, sell everything you have and travel the world...

Dunno if it works, but it does sound very adventurous and sure does break the daily schedule of work/sleep :D

well...I've taken a half year break from DJing before I've got my residency which I'm caught in now...

taking breaks from DJing and party life can be good help and can help you get some motivation. You just have to make sure you won't loose contacts...or if you do, that it's easy to "recover" them.

I used to, and still do to some degree get really insecure when I'm not living and breathing EDM all the time. Lately though, I've come to recognize that it is just part of life. People go in and out of doing what they love, but as long as you return to it and make time for it as much as possible, you are doing the best you can :)

If you really feel trapped, lock yourself in the studio for a couple of weekends, skip going out with friends, make as much time as possible for edm and then see what comes. I am in the same situation, so good luck!!!

Thats exactly what happend, I lost most of my contacts. Finding the energy is so hard. dude I wish i could quit my job and travel the world lol. I just got soo cought up in producing that its all ive been doing for almost two years now. I am glad i was a DJ before I started to get into making my own music though. I have this mindset of I wanna make somthing I would want to play out, So right away I know if somthing is sounding like and ill scrap that right away.

Dude and ive lost my confidence, the last time I played out was a closing set right after matt darey @ avalon in hollywood. A really great gig and opportunity, but matt darey wanted to keep on playing so he did I got to play one record and that was it. Normally I wouldn't even be fazed, I would ask for my money and be done with the night. But Man I was looking up to matt darey scince i was 14, and when i do meet him I get a "F U" :-/ thats kind of where this all started from.

As long as it was a good record...:toocool:

Come to Aus, and lay on the beach for a bit. Better be quick tho, summer is over in weeks...

Go listen to FM radio for a day... I dare you... if that doesn't rekindle your love for EDM nothing will.

Conway, we knew each other in LA and played a few gigs (Lancaster anyone?) together. You rock, man.

Yah, I missed it.

Anyway, if you're really needing some help, hit me up. I was at that point a little over a year ago.

How's SF treating ya? I loved that spot in Lancaster. It didn't get promoted right because a certain somebody was a lugnut with promotions. Dood had heart, that's for sure. He just shoulda let other people coordinate things. Remember when the cops rolled up and gave the kids a light show with the sirens?

"Just be safe kids and have fun."

Nearly 15 years of this stuff, and I've never witnessed something like that. Such a solid memory. Hell, my timeslot got bumped all over the place that night, but that memory made it worth while.
