Been listening to this non-stop now since I got it.
That first 30min just draws you in and hugs you. The tune @ 122min is the best of the set imo.
We need him to play at a DARK venue in the city. He was good at TiL, but I want a more mysterious venue. |
i say re-open System Soundbar for one night and let him play one of his legendary 10 hour extended sets. |

Simple: He LOVES music. I've been saying this for a long time now but Danny Howells, in my opinion, has the best taste in music out of any DJ (tied with Burridge, actually). This mix is just the most recent proof of that statement.
It's business as usual for Danny. Like Jon said he could do it in his in sleep. I wouldn't be as generous in giving it a 10/10 though. It's not perfect, but the first 70-80 minutes are life changing, haha. 9.5/10 from me, just because I've heard better mixes from Howells |

That was the exact track I started laughing. It's at that track where you realize how epic this mix is going to be.
I'm so glad that I caught Howells at This is London in the fall when he finally impressed me. I've seen him about 4 or 5 times, and he's only impressed me once. However, I have other sets like this that show me what a good DJ he is. ing classic. This is going to be in heavy rotation for a while.

Finally tuned in and 16 minutes in i could feel it inside that this set its going in right direction. Lately Danny Howells has been off imo. Im basing this on his live performances at TiL. The last time he was here I arrived at 2.30-3am and the music became aggressively tougher (techno). Not really what I was hoping for. I know Danny is known to intensify his set as the hour passes and maybe he played a lot harder because he didnt have the must needed 8-10 sets hes used to having but having said that, I've been disappointed but those feelings have completely diminished after i clicked play on my media player. This is the Danny Howells i fell in love with. Music that holds intelligence, substance, feeling & emotion. Paying attention to the fine detail in his programming is a completely different story and can be discussed in another thread all together.
So far this is easily the best mix ive heard all year and quite possibly all of last year. Its great to hear danny back in full force.
10/10 (after 40 minutes in)

You guys are making it sound TOO good. I am waiting to listen to it as a whole... dont wanna spoil the flow by listening to it in intervals..
Hopfully by sunday ill be able to sit down and space out for 2 hours. |
