Has nice energy but its really lacking in the low end. I can't even tell if you have a bassline playing. Try beefing up the kick just a bit and adding a low sub bass. I think that would help it drive a lot better.

At first listen, it sounds like it really glistens. The arp, however, sounds a little too saturated when the trance beat drops in... I suppose the arping could lose just a few high freqs and not much at all.

The pads sound great. Very flute-ish and background filling. The bassline and kick seem to be sitting where they are suppost to be. Maybe it's my inexperience, but I really can't add more except, well, FINISh it. It sounds mint.

I'd gather comments from other users with better listening equipment, though.

[EDIT]
judging from the previous poster's comments, my instinct was not that far off. I think that some of the higher frequencies throw off the bass frequencies. Do minor boosting of the lows, and some curbing of the highs overall.

thanks guys really appreciated :D

so ya...the low end really needs to be beefed up.

mixing is pretty tight...nothing is tooo overbearing...but the balance is off between the low and the high...so fix that fo sho. maybe even make more space for the maaain meoldy.

i'm not a trance guy - used to be - but i find a lack of energy. the meoldy is kinda generic...

when the filter opens up...the main synth is really bright and tin-ey sounding...i dunno...

just my 2cents at a quick glance.

thanks, will def. take a look @ the highs 'n lows

I like the energy, too many highs not enough subs.

Updated the sample. Hope it's better :D

Take this with a pinch of salt because a) I've never made anything worth listening to, b) I don't have monitors, only cheapish DJ headphones (they sound really good to me but whatever), c) I mostly listen to old school(ish) trance, oh and d)I have been awake for a long time so my ears aren't exactly fresh.
With the exception of the pads this sounds way over processed, to the point where muuuch clarity is lost. The high end just sounds like noise; I can hardly hear the percs. I would remove most of the noise from the lead, thats probably the main problem. The kick sounds like theres a low pass filter on it, it doesn't cut through enough. The low end is a bit muddy. Actually the percs aren't bad when you lower the cutoff on the lead at 3:40 and you can hear them for a second. They could be a bit louder, especially the clap which is nearly inaudible. The open hat is loud enough. The track has potential, I like it apart from what I mentioned.

Problem with the lead is that I don't know how exactly to "remove the noise." If I highpass it, it just sounds dull, and if I do anything else it loose's its sound.

Any suggestions?

(thanks for the pm)
I don't think highpassing the noise is quite the answer. Perhaps if you EQ-ed out some of the mid-range noise or something along those lines.

I'd just work on a crusade of treble taming. Don't neglect treble in your mix, but you have to balance it just a little for the kick's favor. I like the kick, personally, but like the previous poster said, the clap is almost inaudible.

Perhaps the best bet would be to side-chain select frequencies in the pad and lead for the kick. I've done this before, but it can get quite tedious with multiple instruments and I generally disregard the practice unless it's the last resort (and if my CPu can handle it).

First thing is to reevaluate your filter and EQ options. Then start from there.

Nice breakdown.

PS - I'm no expert either... I've probably produces little listenable material in the grand scheme of things.

Definitely an improvement but could still use some work. I would bring the lows out just a bit more and try and give the kick a little bit more thwack. Maybe layer a snare over it at a low volume just to add some attack. Still a lot of noise going on. I can't hear any percs at all except occasionally i hear what i assume to be an offbeat trashy (not trashy as in bad, trashy like a china) hat. Really need to make some room for the percs. Good bit of improvement since last time though. Keep working.
