I've learned that I have a knack for making trance that is basically non-playable in the club (COUGH). This mix is mostly redeemable in the chillout aspect of things.
[Third Edit: UPDATED MP3 POSTED]
[[ LINK REMOVED ]]
Genre: Ambient Trance + breakbeat + progressive + symphonic/classical + some dream. (Yes, I know it's somewhat experimental -- it's very chill)
Time: 7:46
I came up with the name after I wrote the piece. There are places in the track that have empty holes in the sound spectrum. The piano sometimes pauses for alot of thought and emotion that sounds like a character walking through a city where there is no people. Yet, sometimes the rythmic drive reminds me of street lights, urban centers, and nightlife shadows that infest the memories of the character in question.

Someone take the piano away from me, please... I can't stop using it for some reason. Is there a PA (piano-timbre anonymous) on the board? |

Oh no, the pianoplay is great! Gives the song the right emotionell touch. The name fits perfect, good job! :)

Hey,
the intro is nice.
The beat comes in a little too soon in my opinion, I would consider making it fade in more slowly.
The pianoplay is cool, very emotional and dreamy.
I dont like the snare sound, its too muffled.
Subtle soundtrack like strings now. Great!
Nice harmonies and layering at 2:20, this is really good now.
A little change to the track again, keeping up interest.
Very melancholic piano break now. You do transport the mood nicely.
Now things are becoming a little brighter, and I like it.
The hi piano at 6:00 is a little weird, sounds kinda detuned and doesnt really harmonize that well, I think you should have a look again.
The title fits very well, indeed. I think the overall mixing quality is quite good, apart from the snare. Maybe give some of the instruments a little more space in the upper midrange, it will make things sound a bit clearer this way.
Cool track, keep it up! |

Thanks, all. LINK IS DOWN...
@ Akia
Thanks for the encouragement. I suppost I'm more referring to the fact that 90% of my tracks have some piano in them of some sort.
@ Cybernetica
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for lending me your ears: I see your qualms and have addressed them. That's why the link is down as I'm repairing them. I'm looking for another snare, and the intro is modified already... the bell synth is also being looked at. Thanks again. |

The link is back... I modified the mp3 (see original post).
You can all thank Cybernetica for encouraging the edits. However, I wasn't able to do much with the snare. Sadly, it was one of those scenarios where I tried and tried and was never satisfied with the new sound... But I did do something with it to make it brighter. I layered it with another snare and increased the resonance of the sample. Therefore, it should theoretically sound less muffled. |

The intro is nice; yet, it's a bit DRY for my taste--it sounds almost as if something is missing to create that atmosphere you're getting at....
The percussion is also on the dry side for my liking.... Snare too MID-ish, dry for me
That little sparking instrument, I like.. if it were a bit more thicker in sound, I'd even ask you to sell it to me :P
As far as the bass goes, it needs a little more WET-ness to it, but it's good, anyhow.
I also got one last comment, actually. The direction/progression is a tad slow... probably making the track a bit shorter would help...
Overall,
5.7/10 - Good; more work to it, would bump it up a few points.

Thanks for the feedback, R.J. .
I finally got around to changing the main snare/clap. Now it has less lows and more highs, and I upped the highs. I also changed a few things on the ovrall hats and high frequencies.
If anyone else stumbles on the track, I hope that they will like the new clap. |

| Ah, new buildup now. Overall sound sounds a little more polished. The new snare (like in the breakbeat part) is cool, however the clap sound still does not sound that good to my ears. Maybe just use that snare throughout the whole track? |
