Winners Announced from First American Dance Music Awards, DanceStar USA

Miami, Florida - March 24, 2002 - DanceStar USA, the American Dance Music Awards, concluded the inaugural Awards Show tonight in Miami Beach, Florida. Statues were handed out in fifteen categories at the filled-to-overflowing Jackie Gleason Theater. The nominees were selected by the DanceStar Academy, while the winners were chosen by both the academy and the general public via the DanceStar website, www.dancestarusa.com.

The winners were as follows:

Best Chart Artist: J-Lo
Best Act: The Crystal Method
Best International Act: Fatboy Slim
Best Remix: Danny Tenaglia for Depeche Mode's "I Feel Loved"
Album of The Year: Felix Da Housecat Kittenz & Thee Glitz
Best Compilation Album of the Year: Deep Dish, Moscow
Best Video: Fatboy Slim, "Weapon of Choice"
Best DJ: Christopher Lawrence
Best Radio DJ: Liquid Todd
Best International DJ: Paul Oakenfold
Best Breakthrough DJ: DJ Heather
Best Club/Club Night: Spundae at 1015 Folsom, San Francisco
Best Event: Area One Tour (National)
Record of The Year: Kosheen, "Hide U"
Best Record Label: Astralwerks
Outstanding Contribution to worldwide dance music: Masters At Work

Performers included: Funky Green Dogs, Kosheen, Timo Maas featuring Kelis, Masters At Work, Grandmaster Flash, and Green Velvet.

How the hell did Kosheen get record of the year?

because of the song "hide U' like it sez. Its a great track. It was originally a jungle track that was old but i guess people liked the trance version more?:rolleyes: jungle version was better
