What I've figured out is, some of the magic in trance is that it's such a hypnotic and ecstacy-inducing type of music. It's like in ancient, tribal traditions with people pounding on different-toned drums to a certain beat for hour after hour, with chanting perhaps in the background, and maybe a fire to dance about. It's proven to be a fact that the specific beat of both that music and likewise, trance, aligns with the human body rhythms and so dancing to it can take your mind to a different state. You only know it when you've tried it. Some people like drugs to make it better, but even if you don't take drugs it's doing the same thing to you.

This is so true. Trance is minimalistic music. Very simple in the context of musical complexity..but it is due to this that it captures so much emotion. All the great artists who have characteristically emotional music ie pink floyd, blues artists, and many classic pop/rock artists all have very simplistic musical styles..

...and as far as trance goes...you only know when you've tried it..this is true because I remember hearing trance on my friends little stereo...I thought this is pure ...then I went to see Tiesto (forced, dragged in a way) and ever since I have been ADDICTED..and I feel the euphoria of my first party unleash..even if I sit alone in my room..my head next to the speakers...and become ENTRANCED:D

I dis-agree... Trance builds up in layers and layers and is constructed of many things... Drums, Basslines, Synths, Leads, Strings, Pads, painos, vocals i could go on....

Its all these parts jammed together played with an awesome uplifting melody and atmosphere that makes trance so nice...

IMO...

TRANCE = Classical Electronica

First off id like to say Dj_MDMA - That was deep...

I know exactly where your coming from. Trance is perfect for any mood. Want to rest, listen to some slow melodic trance, wana get hyped up listen to a little hard trance, etc etc. It can put you in any state of mind, and thats what I love. My favorite are the songs that give me the chills and I feel my adreniline rush! Like the first time I heard Southern Sun, I dono what it was but her voice just made my blood bubble. Trance is life!!!!

What I dont get is how people can actually hate it. They say it sounds the same! No it doenst! Maybe if you listen to every song by a composer you will see similarity, cause thats their style, but any stuborn person who can say "every" trance song sounds the same, is weak in the mind. I could never picture my self liking a tyoe of music more. On occasion ill listen to some rock or something (never rap, heh now that is all the same...) But trance is what does it for me. Id like to thank all the trance addicts for providing a happy medium for people like my self to exchange thoughts and learn about the music. Let the trance live on... - TA 4 Life -

I like trance because I think it sounds good.

It doesn't send shivers through my soul like the flowing of a bla bla bla. That's just bull. I don't gaze into the sky contemplating the beats or some other crap. It sounds good, I listen to it. Any Shakespearean quotes or sensual poetry would just be bull on my part.

hehe lol! Actually I'll beg to differ. When Its been a long day at college, I'm walking down the main road, cars passing by, people living their lives. The sunlight beams onto your face, but disappears behind a cloud for a moment but reappears a few seconds later, to hit your face just as a tune finishes a breakdown. You feel the music. You look around, at the green grass and the flowers blowing in the breeze.

I think "Life is good"

Techno is everything for me.

I listen to Techno-Music since 10 Years now...

I was about 17 Years old (1992) when I heard my first Tracks I felt in Love: James Brown is dead and Interactive (Who is elvis) and the Dub-Mix of Culture Beat - No deeper meaning.....!... but my ex-girlfriend heard those german dance-music tracks and I liked the Synth-Parts in it.... then I was totally drunken and saw a hardcore-video on MTV... "Rotterdam Termination Source - Poing!" and I completly changed to TECHNO (Trance&Hardcore)!

Afer one wild year of my first Thunderdome-CD's a friend gave me a Mix-Tape of DJ D-Tronic of the "Twilight" (this club was at the same location where the UNIT and the Famous "TUNNEL" in Hamburg/Germany opened....) and the first song I loved was Jens - Loops and Tings in a wonderful REMIX.

After that I listened to hardcore (especialy holland-style and happy (not stupid!) songs...) and trance parallel... but hardcore killed itself in 1998 (for me it killed ITSELF!!! BECAUSE OF THOSE BORING SLOW BEATS!!!) and I totally changed to Trance. First the german trance and in 1999 the UK Clubtrance (in Hamburg we received BFBS-Radio and they have broadcast trance/house etc the whole weekend.... PvD (the "new & trancy" - PvD), CygnusX, Ferry Corsten... I heard their tracks first on Radio. The song "Tilt - I dream (Tilt's Ressurection Mix) was the first slow one I liked... but I can't dance to such slow music...

Then I found trancEaddict (yeah, they ID'ed Tilt... I didn't know the name until I posted a sample of tilt in the unknown Track-Section) and of course some other nice Websites and even illegal MP3-Sites and since that I'm downloading every song I could get... and listen to it and sort it out....

But my love goes out to every Trance-Songs faster than 150 BPM like the awesome mixes of our DJ Dawn... I love it and I think Hard-Trance is the best music I could imagine!!!

So this is my part... sorry for mistakes... I'm too lazy to correct it.:toothless :toothless

I'm a computer specialist and I actually don't have time to spin the decks (*sniff*)... but I think I have talents to mix Vinyls... but I think I will chose Traktor or something like that...

At last I visited a Trance-Event at Amsterdam/Holland in February: I love Trance... and this was the result for my website... www.ilovetrance.de is a german trance-portal for info and news... hope that this will grow up with success.... :)))

Outta here...

Hey TranceRulez, the same with me. The only difference is that i started with listening to eurodance. And as you know eurodance is dead so i started to listening techno, hardcore, happyhardcore, trance! And still i think that the techno music is the best.

or, when you are sitting on a Train though Germany (ICE) and are on your way to the loveparade and listening to Technoclub vs Space, sitting next to one of your buddies, seeing the beautiful landscape pass by... i thought - "Life is good"

on the otherhand, i love going nutz -dancing- to techno/ trance alike. I know I will get flamed for it, but I can see dancing to PvD one night and dancing to DJ Rush the next one.. there is some difference, but not that much..

I've been into Dance Music for as long as I can remember, I didn't suddenly 'discover' Trance like some on here, it's always been with me in one form or another, from Age Of Love in 92 through when everyone went Goa mad in 95 (Perfecto Fluoro etc) to the big outbreak in 99.

I still listen to all sorts, but 90% of the stuff I buy now is trance, and has been for a few years.

Hard House can have the energy but not the melody.
House can have the beautiful lyrics but not the energy.
Hardcore can have energy and melody but it's rarely moving or beautiful.
Garage and Hip Hop / R&B is too basic and stripped down.
Techno has the energy but not the melody or emotion.

No other genre of dance, or even music has such a poweful combination of elements and structure that conveys such energy and emotion in one piece.

It will always exist.

It will always be with you.
