What a lame event.... I wont even disrespect the word sport by connecting it with the NHL. They promote the sport through brawls on the ice. If that is not the lamest thing then I dont know what is.

:wtf: You clearly know nothing about hockey. The NHL does not promote the game through fights. It is only during incidences like this that non-NHL fans take notice of the sport and assume they know all about the game. How often do brawls like this occur? Not often so to say brawls promote the game is a lame comment all in itself. I'm getting a masters in sports business so I kind of have to know what's going on in sports around North America and from what I've seen the NHL does not promote fighting. No disrespect to you but I'm a huge NHL fan and have done a majority of my research on the league so it bothers me that many people just don't get the sport and are quick to bash it.

It's traditionally part of the game, and has been this way since it started. If NHL were to ban fighting (to make hockey more "viewer-friendly", then THAT would be an attempt to promote the sport. Look at every other big American sport if you want to see the commercialism of the game. I'm happy to see so many hockey fans on this board, I thought this thread would quickly sink to the bottom haha.... GO DEVILS!

Hes ing awesome. You know when he comes on the ice, you're going to see people fly in the air. Hes also a good fighter

why yes they are and last night's game drove me nuts. the only plus was that i got to see adam foote (who i LOVE because of what he did for my avs) play. by 3:00pm tuesday we should get an idea what sather and crew think of the rest of this season. i can't wait for the trade deadline!
