Endless life would a punishment rather than a blessing:
- If the world comes to an end, you will still be there;
- If you suffer an accident, you'd better be able to regenerate everything naturally if you want to live. And, if that's the case, you just won't be able to ever kill yourself, even in situations where it might be "desirable";
- Somehow, I don't think managing millions of years worth of memories is an easy task. Imagine the best part of your life happened in 2007 and you're living in 2000007... probably you won't be able to remember those moments as vividly as you might wish;
- Language evolves - in a thousand years, even if you don't move to another city, the language spoken around you will certainly change... you better be able to learn languages easily;
- Creatures evolve - will humanity change in a million years? It might. And, if it does change, you'll be like a living fossil, hanging around. That might mean inability to communicate with others around you, inability to mate with those around you (if you find any of them attractive, that is), and so on...
Dying is not the problem itself. Its circumstances are. |

Turn on your car and sit in front of the exhaust pipe. That should do it. |

um yea i think if u were actually in the world and talking to people that the language evolving wouldnt be a problem.....unless your a dumb . so thats bull lol
and all those problems are so ridiculous and far fetched lol and if u were given the choice wouldnt u rather i dunno a thousand years extra life and then maybe a load of problems afterwards for who knows how long than say an 80 year long life?
and i dont think they are saying u cant die, its just that u dont age :p but watever this is all bull anyway haha |

Definately live forever. I dont even care if I have all my faculties, as long as my consciousness remains a constant in the universe.
Sure eventually everyone else will die, the earth will be engulfed by the sun, etcetera. Those things suck from the perspective of a human living a normal lifespan. If you live forever, you'd have plenty of time to redefine yourself and become something else. You'd also perceive time differently. If you have ten thousand years of memories, what's a hundred years more? On the other hand if you live only about 80, then that represents more than twice your own existance. |
