Ok so I know that usually it's a guy thing but I guess I'm just special or cursed but I find my hair is thinning out like crazy...
I have always had very fine hair..and I guess b/c my hair has been colour treated for years, well i find I cant keep my hair as long as it used to be as it is sooo thin..and I lose a decent amount of hair after I wash it..and it is really starting to freak me out and I dont know to to avoid any more hair loss!! I dont want to be bald at age 40!!
I dont care if my hair goes all gray..it is the least of my concerns as my roommate and boyfriend are always bitching about their gray hair and I REFUSE to help them pluck them out as I say FACk at least you have hair!!
anyways ladies...help me out..I need advice desperately as I am far from a hair expert. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated :)
Thanks!!

Ive always had thin hair to begin with, so if it started to thin out id be in big trouble.

I used to have really thin hair.. then I chopped it all off years ago and when it grew back, I had lots of it and it was really thick.
I am not sugguestinig that you go cut it all off though Kel..lol
But what has your hairdresser said? You may wanna ask her/him.
I know my hair has been colour treated since I was in grade 7 on and off and I have only ever had that problem of lots of hair falling out when I went blonde. I have never had that since. |

| This happened to me in highschool. Apparently if you wear your hair up a lot it can fall out due to something called 'traction alopecia' therefore now it is a rare rare case you will see my hair in a ponytail. ;) |

| i was in a bad car accident in 02, and i had alot of hair loss from the shock and stress my body went through recovering. my hair hasn't gone back to what it used to be, but silica and biotin are two things you could try since they both promote hair growth and regeneration. also, make and appointment to see a dermatologist. |

i have fine hair too, but i noticed that only at certain length it looks the fullest, has more volume to it.... past it, i get what i call rat tails
i can only suggest trimming it more often, dermatologist (preferably a blood test too, so it will show if your system is lacking anything) and easy on coloring |

I have very thin hair as well. All sorts of things can damage your hair and aide in it thinning out...that being using lots of products, dying it all of the time, pulling your hair back into tight ponytails, as well as blow dying, curling etc. I even heard that washing it and brushing it too much can thin it out. Stress is a big reason for it to fall out - I don't know if that pertains to thinning, but I know when I get stressed my hair always falls out.
Due to my hair being really thin, I make a point of not doing these things a lot. I rarely use product, I never blow dry my hair, and never really curl it (b/c it falls out after 5 minutes, b/c my hair is so straight - and thus the reason why I don't use a straightener). I only dye my hair once or twice a year too, and I don't keep touching it up...I just let it grown out.
My hair dresser always tells me how I have the healthiest hair of all her clients. So I guess the key thing here Kelly is to keep your hair healthy - so avoid using things that damage your hair (like I mentioned above). |

^^ yeah I've been told that too! I have thin hair prone to falling out, yet ppl tell me how healthy looking and shiny it is, to the point that they would ask me which shampoos I'm using :)
dying+styling is def a big factor in damaging your hair, so reducing that should help at least a bit |

Yep...it's definitely helped me. I rarely use that stuff. Just occassionally. When I do use product I typically wash with the Neutrogena shampoo afterwards. I forget if they only have one shampoo or more...but it's in a clear bottom and the shampoo is clear with a greyish tint (well the bottle may have the greyish tint). It strips your hair of all the product. But since it works hard to strip your hair, it's not recommended you use it as your regular shampoo. |

I recently got Neutrogena's moisturizing hair mask... I should give this shampoo a try too, I use hairspray a lot and leave-on serum |

Ya...try a small bottle out to see if you like it. I'd say probably use it no more than once a week. Other shampoos will get rid of the hairspray etc., but a lot of times there's a bit left or something...so if you use it once a week or so it'll give your hair a good stripping! haha |
