I had a party couple nights ago, and I set up my sound system and mixed using CD's, courtesy of equipment from a friend of mine and did a great mix ;-) It was almost a 3 hour set and it was wild ;-) :eyes: I recorded it, and edited it to be able to fit on a normal CD ;-) Enjoy! Feedback is appreciated!

i listened to this one today as the tracklist looked great. and i must say that the tracks are mostly very good. for that.
the mixing though, it was pretty bad. none of the mixes were smooth. most tunes didn't seem to fit together, mixes were really quick and mixed at points where the previous tune is still going on properly. there didn't seem to be any sense in the mixing at all, everything just seemed so random. some of the mixes were also matched rather poorly too.
so in conclusion:
great tracks, bad mixing.

I am just not meant to DJ, I guess ... I did a non-stop mix, Traktor doesnt do editing and pausing. I dont have much time for playing around with the program, but I guess I might as well call it quits on the mixes I think. I dont want to flood the forum with bad mixing ... I guess your review was a little harsh, but probably true. Not the first review I get like that anyhow.

If you don't put in the time to learn the equipment, learn to beatmatch, etc. then I wouldn't expect to put out a quality mix. I listened to a couple of transitions and what he said was dead on.

Awww c'mon boy... don't beat yourself up like that.

It's all about Practise, practise, listen, listen, practise...

The problem is you must make sure the tape is good or you are pretty much subjected to bad or any criticism by putting it out on public domain.

Brace it up, check your tape and get back on the decks.

Don't forget to thank these people when you become famous! :D Hahhaaa

bon appetit ~!

well i didn't intentionally mean to be harsh. it's just that the mixing wasn't good and IMO if that's the way it is then that's the way it should be told. if everyone would always say only good things about each others mixes then no one would be getting any better. that's my view on it. i personally would like to hear negative criticism on my mixes. positive (and negative) criticism IMO is only good if it's totally honest.
and if you like mixing, then you shouldn't quit. just get better and show everyone you can mix well. learn from the criticism and don't let it get to you personally and quit because of it. ;)
