Talk about a time machine, last night we all got a ride on one. Caught about an hour of Edgar's opening, and it was right on. Energy galore while setting the plate for the Shadow Lounge ringleader Acosta to level the place. And level the place he did with one great classic after another, leading up to a GA-Edgar tagteam session (which is now a SL reunion tradition). Too many great tracks to remember and I'll leave tracklisting to the trainspotters and DJs on here. Yet ones that I remember and stood out include: French Kiss, Witches, Exploration of Space, Derbus, World in My Eyes (in breakdown still gets a crowd going), Taking Over Space, & Cocaine.
I might add about the venue's location, it's only 2 blocks from Space, so no biggie. And the SL party was actually in the back two areas, as the Mainroon already has an existing open-format/hip hop party. So the venue is actually insane with 3 big areas. That outside area was great, and I could see this as a great venue for conference parties so I am surprised that I haven't heard of any. Only issue I would mention is that whoever tweaked the sound in the trance room overdid it. We get it you have a Dynacord, congrats, now turn it down a little, thanks.
Bottom line it was an awesome event. Many thanks go out to Edgar V and George Acosta for taking everyone on a trip back in time like only they can, and to Dade and the Shadow Lounge crew for putting this together again. |
