Have you not heard about the storm that's paralyzed all of the north east US? Hundreds of flights were cancelled in Chicago. |
Nope. |

C V S KILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLED IT!!!!
Nauturally when we found while waiting in line that DC wasn't going to make due to flight cancellation we were a little skeptical of what kind of nite it would be. I think because DC didn;t make it is the main reason why CVS threw it down hard almost as if it was to make up for dc not making it here. Too bad about the closing scenerios floating around becase SONIC will be greatly missed. |

Bah, long story short didn't make it into Sonic after being @ Ultra Spin...disappointed, especially since CVS played from 3am onwards.
Ah well, will just have to catch him in Miami :) |

I think you said to me at 3 different times during max's set..."I can't believe you're leaving THIS to go to Sonic!?!?!?!" *jon proceeds to rock out to next track*

Derrick Carter didn't show. Whoever covered the first couple hours must've had some serious bad luck going: there were 2 or 3 scratched record moments, and some bad timing on quite a few of the transitions. It was a very rough-and-ready set, but the DJ looked like he was having a pretty good time, and I (for one) loved the programming. Decent overall, but really blunt, I guess. CVS came on around 3AM and continued with the Chicago stuff for an hour or so (I think?), but from 4am on, tech tech tech. No vocals, no melodies, just crankin' electro-tech. My favourite moment of the night was the first "false end" of the set; CVS slowed and stopped the music, then started a super-low bass drone louder, louder, louder, then transitioned with the chattering/clapping/voices buildup part of Amesz/Gelderblom/Lopez - Strike Me Down. WOW!
Overall, not a bad night, esp. considering Carter couldn't make it. I feel the replacement with CVS was a bit odd, considering he spins a completely different kind of music, and the two wouldn't necessarily appeal to the same crowd. I stayed till around 7:30am, but didn't enjoy it 100%. CVS had amazing skills, it's just not my favourite genre. |
