I heard that Ridley Scott was going to direct the new aliens movie? Is this true?
Mmanu
It's true but Spielberg has to make alien 5 before that.

Than I got it wrong. It is going to be Scott who makes aliens 5 not 6. I heard that speilburg isn't going to take part in the next aliens. I hope its true. Lately his movies have sucked. Ridley Scott all the way!!

Do you have an article for that, french guy?

they should have have left these films well alone after the 4th one instead of them being remembered as classics everyones going to be seeing these new and probably films.
The alien films are my favourite set of films ever in only dreading to think how bad these new ones will be.
Would alien 5 be based on earth then??? cause at the end of resurrection ripley goes back to earth doesnt show her landing though.

IMDB doesn't list anything as being in production, and I know that rumours have been circulating the next Alien movie for years and years, so I wouldn't really believe everything you hear.

There is, however, a new AvP movie on the way...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758730/

Slated to come out in December of this year, so that is cool. The first AvP movie was nowhere near as cool as any of the Aliens series. It was more on the same level as Predator 2, in my opinion - but it was still a really enjoyable Sci-Fi/action film (the Aliens movies being more Sci-Fi/horror), so I hope they really try and stay with that tradition for the next Alien movie rather than make it just another action movie.

So far, each Alien movie has been the product of a really excellent director - Ridley Scott did the first one, James Cameron the 2nd, David Fincher the 3rd and Jean-Pierre Jeunet the 4th one. Let's hope they stay true to this for the next one as well and don't let Paul Anderson get his dirty hands on it or anything. :stongue:

It also looks like Dan O'bannon is writing the screenplay for AvP 2. If I recall, Dan O'bannon did the screenplay for the first Alien movie, so that's cool.

I think I should be the directer of any alien movie. I just know it would rock!;)

imo they should have left the franchise alone after the second one. watched alien 3 in the theaters didn t like it as much as the second. (still best one imo. the fourth one blew chunks... i mean space pirates/ aliens running amuck (sounds a lil like metroid) eh... it took away from the bigger picture than adding to it i mean come on r gonna put winonna ryder (tho i absolute am feelin her .... even if shes crazy!) in it an have her act all tough... gimme a break an the whole avp that was disgraceful can t believe i watched iti want my hour an change back + the 3.95 i spent on demand to see it, that went totally the opposite direction of what the first two movies were suppose to be "giant reptiles"?!?!?! once that comparison was made it took all of the terror that the those xenomorphs had away beasts with acid for blood, adaptable in (most extreme)enviroments superior intellect, can lay eggs left an right (an they are a force to be rekoned with)over 9 feet tall, have two sets of teeth (get the point) all that to be reduced to serpents..... yea riiiiiight pls leave the series well enough alone FFS!!!

tho i must say i have come to appreciate the third one after watching how bad the last two were:wtf: still do not understand how they were able to extract the aliens if ripley died in the 3 one explanation pls ?

The 4th one took place like 200 years in the future from the 3rd one, so obviously their technology had advanced quite a bit.

I was under the impression that they were able to find extremely trace amounts of her DNA around the prison facility as well as her ship (where the queen had hatched in the first place). It seems a little out there, but that's sort of what Science Fiction is all about.

I just wish that, whatever they do, they make the shift back to horror movies again... not action. The 2nd one was really good for a sci-fi/action movie, but that was the ace in the deck - the series needs more mood and suspense just like in the first movie. That's what I'd really like to see them do.

Anyone ever read the Nightmare Asylum series of graphic novels? They were written/designed before the 3rd movie was made, but tell a really excellent story leading into the Earth war. All sort of badass cults on Earth sacrificing people to the hive queens and stuff - was really quite cool.

yeah avp was shocking bad an alien film without any blood WTF and the age rating was just stupid.
The second one is the best and alien 2 is still the only sci-fi film ever to be nominated for a oscar (sigorney weaver best actress)

That's not true - the first Alien movie won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects in 1980.

The 2nd one also won both Best Visuals and Best Sound at the 1987 Academy Awards.

And the 3rd one was nominated for Best Visuals in 1993.

I heard AvP sucked serious ass, so I dont really have high hopes for another edition to the Alien series.
