Yank uni parties would do my head in. It would be like being 16 all over again.

ill get there my self and get home myself if needed, but while im at the club, im never really "alone"
squirrelly
I'll go places alone [like driving] but I'm never actually alone once I get to my destination. Depending on where I'm going it's a different group of people for each place. My boyfriend [usually] comes, but not so much lately [he's been busy with his band thing].

It doesn't matter for me.If i'm in a group or alone i'll always end up doing my own thing. When its time to get the down, stragglers aren't welcome. The one advantage to going places alone is that you feel more compeled to make an effort to meet new people...plus if there is a hot chick at the bar you can make a moppy face and pretend you just got broken up with.7 times out of 10 that could lead to dry humping and perhaps more if played right.

wow, lots of good replies, and more willing loners out there than I thought possible...totally cool.
Mostly, everyone has said every reason that I can think of, except maybe one that I don't recall seeing, which is that I find I have to use a large portion of my brain(pea-sized) to monitor the group activities, ie. smoke room(or even more annoying in Canada when it's minus a thousand degrees outside and I'm watching smokers do their thing...no smoking inside clubs here...Toronto), washroom, wait right here(then they don't show up), I've just got to check this into the coatroom, I need to score a hit...bla, bla, bla...
So, I'm constantly thinking of stupid shiite, and I never really get to hear the music, I'm aware that it's playing, but my thought processes over-ride the sound. Yup, I much prefer to go alone, or with a bud that I can leave for hours at a time.
Maybe I'll start a group for loners that want to go out. Everyone can meet in one spot for two minutes, say every six hours...for no more than two minutes though...that'd turn my pea to mush.

I've been clubbing alone from miami to greece and I always have fun. It forces you to be more social and meet people. I started clubbing in high school and none of my friends had a fake id, money, and interest to go hear some 'techno music' so..what can you do.

Speaking of legal drinking ages, something I've always wondered, do you have to be over 21 to get into clubs in the US? Cause that would suck pretty hard :|
SPACEMASTERS
I hardly ever go out by myself, and sometimes I think I should start becuase it is always my brother and his best friend. And when they do not want to do anything. Im stuck, and miami is a pretty busy city to throw to waste on a Saturday night. You could say im a quite dude, but I like having fun with people I know...

it's fairly common that you can't get into a proper club if you aren't 21 years old.

Now if you are in a college town where they have stupid college kids bars they usually let 18+ in and mark your hand with big Xs so you are marked as non drinking, and the 21+ get to wear a wrist band.

Obviously there's a lot of "fraud" with bars serving to underaged drinkers but you have to realize it's a really strict law. Places get fined, shut down etc if they keep violating the law in regards to underaged drinking.

By the way thursday I am going to arrive in Berlin for a 5 day vacation.
I know no one there and if I am lucky I might be meeting one person but even that isn't anywhere close to being sure right now.
I regurlaly travel to other countries/cities to visit party etc and I pretty much always do it alone. If I had let myself tied down by others wanting or not wanting to go other places I would never do anything.
Some of my most memorable travel memories were when I was solo.
Walking around in New York having no clue what I wanted to see and do and soaking it up all in.

For a lot of years I was travelling, working and ending up in countries where you don't know anyone after the days done there wasn't much point in hanging around a hotel room looking at 4 walls and watching TV if there was a good movie on somewhere, pub nearby, open late shopping centre or something to go wander around in.
(Some countries and cities though its a BAD idea!)
I'd make friends with a couple of people I was working with every now and then and they'd drag me out to places which was a nice change. To some degree even though I'm comparatively grounded in life, I'll still wander off and do things by myself if my partner is off working or at school.

People cramp my style, so I go out with blow up dolls instead.
