College Students...Now with more Narcissism!

Today's college students are more narcissistic and self-centered than their predecessors, according to a comprehensive new study by five psychologists.
"We need to stop endlessly repeating 'You're special' and having children repeat that back," said the study's lead author, Professor Jean Twenge of San Diego State University. "Kids are self-centered enough already."
What do you think? is increasing narcissism a reality or even a problem at all?

yea, its killing the world. You need to be able to work as a team sometimes and this new breed doesn't do that well. They also don't stick with companies for very long, they just look to further theri career, not just with any employer.
at mah g/f's work they had this older lady stand up and a younger one and they asked the older one how long should an employee work before expecting a promotion....10 years...they asked the younger one...3 years.
its crazy the difference now-a-days. But I guess its time for employers to change. |

The issue with young people needing to further advance their professional careers faster these days has everything to do with the economy.
Access to real estate, marriage etc comes at a much higher price today than it in the past.
Me I personally love working in a team preferably as the team leader :p ... but everyone always disappoint or dumps their work load on someone else resulting in me not wanting to work in a group.
The issue with child narcissism also comes with the fact children are much more valued today than in the past.
Going from a mother-father with multiple children scheme to a mono parental lifestyle with a single child the offspring's life is given excessive value.
Every little thing they do growing up is viewed as magic and all their efforts regardless how minimal are applauded.
How can it be expected for the newer generations to behave any differently than with a narcissistic slant??? |

| haha the whole weekend i kept reminding my 2 year old nephew how much he rocks. i guess i shouldn't do that. i would be like, "you rock...who rocks?" and i would make him say it. lol |
