Well heres the problem, hope u guys can help me out with this.

i have 2 computers and a HP Deskjet 5550 printer. So yup I've connected it to my wireless router using the USB cable not the printer port and the computers are conected to the router too.

Somehow my computer doesnt detect the printer..even though there is a network. I've installed the drivers for the printer on both PCs but still cant seem to get it to work. Sure I've looked through the manuals and googled..but there seems to be a lot of technical about ports and "TCP"s which i dont really understand.

I'm sure there is an easier way to get by this.

Really apppreaciate any help.

Hi there

I have looked at the spec on the HP site and I dont think it has that ability "out of the box".

I think you will need to purchase a small print server if you are looking for this functionality.

Dont quote me on this though as you may have purchased a package that included this item.

This text was taken from the HP website for this item.

The section I highlighted describes what you need to set the printer up the way you want and the way it has been said makes me think it hasnt been inclued with the printer"

"Network
The printer can be connected to a network in one of two ways:

Connected directly to a computer on a network. Use the printer software CD and follow the on-screen network setup instructions.

Connected to a network with an HP Jetdirect Print Server. For instructions use the printer software CD and the documentation that came with the HP Jetdirect Print Server."

Can your router act as a print server? Maybe giving that model number would help.
