I thought my answer was clear, as long as you are not checking baggage you have no problems. What could possibly happen, is the airline gestapo is gonna show up at your house and drag you off to prison because you skipped a leg of your flight? |

Thats a whole different story. The only time you can do this is on the return trip, or if you are using it as a 1 way and not taking a return trip. If you skip a leg of your flight on the "going to" portion I believe it will invalidate the whole rest of your ticket. |

| The airport system here in atlanta is ty. Even if you don't have a connecting flight you still have to get your bags, and then GIVE THEM BACK, and then get them again. You may be thinking "that's not so bad, no problem" but they've lost 3 of my bags this way(3 different occasions). I actually had them in my hand in atlanta, but when I had to re-get the bags, they were lost. |

You are in your full right to not fly a leg of your trip as long as it a connection flight and not at the departing airport!
If you try and get on your trip at one of the connecting airports that's where the problems can start. |

is your baggage checked all the way through? (ie you are not transferring off an internation onto a domestic flight - in which case you would have to clear customs on the middle leg and recheck your luggage).
If so, the second flight will not take off with your bags in the hold if you do not board - the theory being that you may have a bomb and simply don't want to be on board when it goes off.
If you pickup your bags in the middle stop, you should have no problems, just make sure they don't check the bags to the final destination.
If it's a middle leg of a return flight that you skip, but still plan on taking the full return leg, you should contact the airline to make sure they keep the return booking. Sometimes they are cancelled whne you don't turn up for part of the outbound. |

a flight leaves regardless of who is and isn't on board.
On a daily basis people miss connecting flights by accident and their luggage makes it to the final destination before them.
There is no link between luggage transfer and passengers using connection flights.
If it is setup to transfer luggage automatically it will go all the way to the end of the trip. |
