hey guys,
Ok I know this might be the easiest Question on earth but im new to recording audio here and I cant set it up
What is the ideal way to record audio??
1- connect via Line in?
2- When I start recording using for example ableton I get a hell loud Distortion and its always red which means distortion?
What should I do low the line in volume or the synth or what?
3- There is this stooped delay I hear while playing back and is recorded when i press record so how to mute this delay and what is it?
I have these 3 problems as i stated above
please guys answer and help me as u can see in NOOb to audio recording
thanks in advance :D :D :D :D :D |

1) what are you trying to record?
2) what is your setup...ie your gear. |

KORG KARMA adn im trying to record the tune on the sequencer of the Karma into tracks in ableton to move from hardware to software
but as i said i got distortion plus everything that made the sound crappy :( |

ok...but what is your recording interface? your a/d converters?
im not familiar with the karma, but that's just a synth right? |
|

| Khayat |
yeah its a synth without usb
my card is.. well I have 2 choices the live 5.1 :D
and the card that came with the mother board this Realteck bla bla AC97
and believe it or not i had less distortion with the on board sound device  |

| ok so like...you are recording with 1/8 inputs??? or what...check the levels of the input on your computer's sound card mixer. |
|
|
| Khayat |
ohh now im lost lol :D :D
I have 2 input in the audio setup I can only see two one mono and one stereo
is this the right answer? :conf: |
|

lol...
ok...i mean what kind of input jacks are they? are they the standard "cd player/headphone" type jacks, or are they 1/4"...like the ones you use for keyboards and guitars?
and did you check your computers soundcard mixer input level? |
|
|
| Khayat |
ooh ok now I understand somehow
I have input like mic - cd payer - line in - speakers .. they are standards its a creative Sound blaster card my friend
but i think the Line in is the right input and yeah before i forget i have to make the volume max in the synth as its broken and it only works max so even when i make the line in min i get also distortion.
there has to be a way to control this but i dont know |

ok well you need to use periods when you construct sentences so i can understand you better.:p
anyway...if you have not done so already...
go to control panels>sounds audio devices>audio tab>volume...
and a little mixer should pop up...fiddle with your "line in" fader...
i hope this helps...
oh and also...if your synth has to be turned up to max volume...that might be a big problem and you'd have to get that fixed if you wanted to record without distortion...but i think you maybe able to fix that with the "line in" fader... |
