Hi, ive been watching some professional and amateur djs recently upclose and ive noticed that they have been tapping the pause/play button repeatedly when cuing in a new track... is there a reason for this?
is it something dealing with the pioneers? because im a beginner dj that uses stanton c303s and it just doesnt make any sense..
thx |

depends what their doing. on cdj's if your on vinyl mode its different than cdj mode. i stick to cdj mode because that just happens to be my preference and I do that tapping thing. all it is, is you cue up the track and tap out the kick so that you can "release" the track on beat when the time comes. its pretty common i think. |

it's like scratching and backcueing the first beat, you get the rhythm going and release it on beat
on cdjs, you tap the cue button on beat then press play when you want to release it
doesn't really serve a purpose per se
i do it as well
edit:
i also use cdj as well, if i want to play records, i'll play records |

Or use the tapping as a cheap trick during a breakdown (yes, I'm looking at you, Johan Gielen) :p |

i dunno about the play button...
but how i cue up a song is... i hit cue cue cue cue cue.. untill i got it playing where i want it and on beat... when its on beat i keep holding cue and press play... i love this function on my mk2 and mk3 :D |

well on the original 1000's you can't hold cue and tap play to release you have to just press play. |
