loved her in The Aristocrats, and just in general stand-up.. haven't seen her show though.

Man, the Aristocrats was so weird. I had no idea what to expect, but I ended up really liking it haha

I didn't even know that she was a comedienne before I saw The Aristocrats, but once I saw here there I was like "ohhh, wow, that girl - I've seen her in cameos before!".

She played David Duchovney's ex-gf in the diner in the movie Evolution. She took off her shirt. :toothless

No. I can understand if people just don't like her delivery/comedy - but the superficial criticisms leveled by a few people in this thread are laughable at best, and clearly indicate their inability to "get it."

I am certainly not directing this at anyone in this thread in particular, because I don't really know anyone here's justification for not liking her, but I think the vast majority of criticism she receives is due to the fact that she is a woman on stage telling jokes almost exactly as a man would. I can't think of any other female comics I really find funny - they usually come off as annoying to me just due to the material - it's usually all menstrual-humour??? But Sarah Silverman tells jokes like a man - and this doesn't really fit with people's expectations of her, so they decide not to like her.

why is this thread called 'The Sarah Silverman Show' and not 'why i hate Sarah Silverman'...

i think the singing is a bit grating, but as far as doing something slightly cutting edge if not totally new, this is the best CC has done since Chappelle's Show and South Park.

this is why so many people are bashing:

just like every comedian, she isnt all that all the time. but when shes on, shes on...

'bitch! get your head off my titty!|

She's hilarious.

Jesus Is Magic had me in stitches.

I agree, Jesus is Magic was a classic and contrary to what some ppl said this isn't a Sarah bash thread, I actually like her and looked forward to her new sitcom. Unfortunately, the acting was quite bad, and the writing and premise of the show is annoying and fake.

You'd have to be pretty dumb not to "get it" since it’s done so heavy handed. There is more to comedy than saying shocking things. Seinfeld is a perfect example, the characters are as self-centered and often do shocking things like Sarah but they're likeable, interesting, and funny. We can relate to them because we can see ourselves in them. Her show feels unnatural and forced. Jamming one's stand up material on top of a poorly written sitcom is a receipt for disaster. It really has nothing to do with her being a woman.

Jesus is Magic was for her 'jews shouldnt buy German cars bs rant.'

sarah is best at being offensive. and the show is an extrapolation of her ideas, without her stupid opinion|

(oh, and the main gay (as i dont know the actor's name) always sounds like that and he is ing hilarious, it isnt bad acting. ffs i doubt anyone is acting very much on the show)

I'm guessing the vast majority of you who don't like this show, really didn't care for Mr. Show or the Upright Citizens Brigade?
