anyone else got a copy/as addicted as i am?

Yes I was. The dark brotherhood quest is the best part of the game :p

thief guild was pretty kick ass too.

I should get back to it. Too many other games sidetracked me.

Great game, can't wait for the Shivering Isles expansion.

I was thinking about getting this. But, I haven't liked an RPG in a long time. Should I not even bother? Is this game first-person? Cause I don't really like first person games either.

I really don't like FPS games. This game is designed to play in first person mode, but it certainly does not play like an FPS does. But you can also zoom out and play the entire game in 3rd person just fine - I typically switch between 3rd and first person when I play.

Most RPGs are pretty run-of-the-mill and end up suffering in some department, but Oblivion I think got the entire formula just right - the graphics are simply fantastic, the character development is great, the gameplay is honestly just plain fun, the sound and music are great, the story is quite cool and it's one of the most non-linear games I have ever played. If you don't like your plot-line hand-fed to you like in most RPGs, this game is definitely worth checking out. I mean, if it suits your fancy, you could play Oblivion for 100+ hours just doing quests and never, ever get around to doing the main storyline. Or, you could get straight to the main story and "finish" the game in under 2 hours if you want - the choice is yours.

A buddy of mine went into hibernation for about a week after he got his 360 and this game. I also read not too long ago that this game is coming to the PSP! Dont know how the hell that's possible.
TeKnoHe@d2025
I've played for over 60 hours and still didn't start the main story.

The PSP version isn't going to be a full blown, ful scale Elder Scrolls as far as I know. It's going to be a lot of large dungeons with the same character building platform currently used. I'm interested but not sure how the game will work out exactly.

So did you give this another earnest try, pkc? :p

I reinstalled the other day and have been reaping some of the best mods out there for it - really prolongs the awesomeness of the game even still.

Can't wait for some news on the next one though.

Haha, yeah im about 40hrs in. don’t get me wrong, it’s a great game (especially with a few mods to fix some of its issues, not the least being the horrible console interface, ick) but its just not that engrossing as I was hoping. The loot isn’t nearly as interesting, and the cookie-cutter NPCs really annoy me. I know there’s only so much they can do in that regard of course. I miss getting XP for completing quests and killing foes, so it kinda makes exploring less exciting, because if there isn’t a cool item (which there hardly ever is) somewhere in that cave, it was kind of a waste of time.

Sticking fairly close to the main quests now, just so I can finish the game. I like fallout more, even if its story was pretty damn average.

I also wish the magic was more impressive looking.
