| What is it, really? I've heard Oakenfold's Goa Gold and Silver, but that's the closest I'll ever get to finding out more. Are there any current "Pure Goa" producers anywhere in the circuit today? |

| This is all i know about it... it is also called PSY trance, and is different enough from prog and uplifting to have its own genre. You hear oakenfold spin a lot of Goa because he was one of the ones who started the movement.. it all began on the former Portugese colony (now resort and club) on India, originally founded by vasco da gama, called GOA. hence its name. The goa sound is characterized by fast, almost jungle like sequences and synths, with a heavy, repetative bassline, and no real build ups like you have in uplifting trance. Depending on who you listen to, it doesnt really have breaks either, only a few parts where the beats stop and the bassline underlines the introduction of a perhaps new sequence or synth. A classic example (and a good one at that) of this is Art of Trance - Octopus(Man with No Name Mix) or Hallucinogen - LSD. Other ppl here have already mentioned most prominent psy artists.. another u might want to check out is Infected Mushroom. He just released a new CD together with Yahel very recently. |
