as much as 2-2.5 hr sets suck, i do like the fact that most of the DJ's that come here really get down to business and rock it out for the 2 or more hours they play. Unlike some of the marathon sets that dj's play, there isnt as much pacing and buidling the set up. Every time Armin comes, its a real high energy set, that keeps ya movin the entire time.
I'd prefer a 3-4 hr set personally, but beggars cant be choosers.....
I'm surprised avalon acutally booked pvd, cause i had heard rumors that he didnt like the management there and refused to play. Looks like they avalon is turning over a new leaf. One more thing left for them to do and that is bring back the laser!!!

Ya, i was at the Sep 2004 set in Boston, and it was so very strange to leave so early.

The last time I saw PvD at Avalon someone threw a glowstick that ended up on the turntable, stopping the music. Paul looked incredibly angry.
It was right at the end of the set too, basically the last song. There was this big breakdown, tensions building...drumroll....the beat drops...everyone throws their hands up...screaming and cheering....and then someone throws their glowsticks up in the air out of excitement....
I was basically embarrassed for the whole club (if not the city) when that happened.

True, in October Armin didn't waste any time and got right to business. I don't even remember how long his set was BUT it didn't feel like a 2hour set...if I didn't already have stuff to do, I would make the trek to Boston again for this.
