OMG such an awsome party , it got packed preety fast but there was eventually room to dance. Openning Dj Jordan Dare played a wikked warm up set not too boring but not to intense just right.
TIGA started of good , had some rocking moments then for about an hour it started to sound the same around 3am is when he kicked up 10 notches but the highlight was defently he two encores , couldnt deny the crowd a couple last listens. the second last song was the wikked electro sex, wish he brought some more of it.
Great seeing everyone , the corwd was really loving it, however it was a bit annoying the number of people on stage kinda reminded me of guv main room.
my feet hurt :D |

My edited review from Tribe:
My first time at The Mod Club, and it was a pretty enjoyable experience. I love the venue itself: great space, lovely staff, down to earth atmosphere, and amazing sound. I now understand why some individuals call it the sound theatre. I couldn't believe that this place was that sweet, considering that the crappy Mana Lounge was right beneath (I've had some horrible nights down there.) So this is where all the 'cool kids' go? Interesting... the crowd...well I loved it. I adore weirdos, freaks, and people who just came out of an abstract fashion magazine...and I mean well when I say these things. I honestly felt comfortable and belonging (not in style, but freak wise) haha. Some notable people that caught my eye:
Cindy Lauper Poodle Lady
The Glitter Sisters
Edward Scissor Hair
The Vagina Hat Woman
Weird Science
etc. lol. <3 I must of seen these folk about a million times while chilling in the upstairs lounge (which is quite comfy and relaxing, while not too excluded.) My only complaint...well...not so much complaint, but rather, downside to the night.. was the heat. It was expected, but when I'm hugging friends and they scream out "Ewwww" because of the amount of sweat on my cheek..it's pretty gross haha. I managed to stay until the end with my friends Sir Plain..and Miss Dolly Parton La Brun.
Wasn't too sure who went on first, but I enjoyed both Jordan Dare and Thomas Von Party somewhat equally. The opening set was very chill, minimalistic, but still danceable. I couldn't resist doing the Cribby Swagger :D. Sometimes I'm afraid that my butt will hit someone in the face...seriously. bwahaha. Ok, I lied. The set before Tiga (whom at first I thought was Tiga) was bang on. Perfect opener for Tiga to transition from...although it felt really short? I could have sworn it was less than an hour. Regardless, it was extremely electrosexual (yes, I was the sketchbag who kept screaming out "electrosexual") :)
Tiga's set was very up and down, as others also have claimed it to be. For the most part, it was good , but the filler just seemed too bland and didn't tie in well with the banging retro electro. I was impressed with the PA, but was expecting it to be less "Sydney Blu" styled electro, and more ala The Hacker/MSTRKRFT style. It was above average though. I loved hearing
The Knife - Silent Shout
TWICE...in less than HALF AN HOUR. My favourite tune from Tiga's essential mix from last year....but tune of the night for me, was played by one of the first two opening acts...and I went absolutely mental to it...
D.I.M. - Sysiphos
Quite the venue to hear this song in...wow. I was really upset that it ended so early, but Tiga's last real song (not the corny "Our Lips Are Sealed" track") was ridiculously amazing. Can someone get an ID on this one? It was a destructive elec-techno track that had bloopy build ups with eerily sounding break downs. I REALLY need an ID on this! The whole dancefloor gave it their all to this final stormer.
I've been to ADD parties before, but this was the most interesting. I anticipate the next one - Booka Shade. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I'm glad I got to see a few of you! |
