Hey What's up guys/gals?
So yeah like the subject says, I really want to get serious with my DJ'ing career. So far the only type of events I've done are house parties, university parties and highschool dances, and unfortunately a lot of them have been hip-hop top 40 stuff. Im moving to LA in about 6 months and really want to start playing at clubs or at bigger venues, with the music that I love only. Im also, only 2 hours away from the bay area (SF) and Sacramento. I want to make a proper promo CD to send to clubs, and I was wondering if this type of set would proper for clubs to hear as a promo. I made this set a few days ago, it's only an hour and it has like only 1 bad transition. I have no problem making another one and perfecting it.

1.) This thread should be in the DJ Booth and/or DJ Promotion section of TA.
2.) To find people such as yourself near you, I'd suggest using your local forum.

try the westcoast forum. a lot of us who post on there dj in clubs in the la area. i have gotten gigs though there and also booked djs who post on here. it is a great place to start.
make as many freinds in the scene as you can. go out to clubs as much as possible. try going out at least three times a week. you never know who you'll meet so make some cards and carry them everywhere you go.
its hard work. especially if you work full time and go to school full time...i don't get much sleep. if you really want to do it you must make as much time as you can deidcated to djing. |

firstly u'd have to have tunes that are way more up to date and alot less commercial than this to be noticed. |

which is exactly why you bypass the need for getting noticed, by setting up your own night.
If it doesnt lead to anything bigger, then at least you've always got your own night a week/month to express yourself and your hobby. |
