Generally I would sitck to remixing curve ball bands that maybe people haven't heard of. Remxing a major band like No Doubt was not something I thought I'd ever see myself doing.
But instead of remixing a curve ball band, I chose a curve ball song. Running was a ballad on 2001's Rock Steady album. Although this song didn't see much play as a single, the band made a cool video for it and it sat in obscurity for years.
I took the slow-ballad feel and added a huge kick and some trancey lines while keeping her vocal at the front of the mix. There are a couple little sections where I added some live piano with the chord progression.
One thing is for sure. This track is a dance floor winner. Whether you're into trance or on the more progressive tip, this track will draw closer any crowd.
