Question about my GA-60XE-1 motherboard

First off my name's Carlos...I usually hang out in the Texas forums.

Ok here's my question. Ever since I've added a new 40gb HD to my mobo (motherboard) my pc's been freezing, which btw today I plan on going to the nearest electronics store and buying a 200gb HD. Anyways, my friend who worked for HP for 3 years refurbishing laptops tells me that something on the mobo itself is screwed up, like some chip or something. I took apart the entire PC last night, cleaned everything off with a air-can and put everything back as usual, added one more RAM card, since I was running off of 384 before (im running 512mb now) and still I'm freezing. It seems that when I'm on the internet the most, taking up alot of bandwidth, that my pc freezes. Adding a cd burner and hd has made my pc go bananas. Anyone have any ideas? Also, I've read somewhere along the line that these specific mobo's can be tuned up to give greater speed.
