I cant believe NYC is only 28th. I would HATE to live anywhere more expensive than that. . When I first moved down here, I was looking at a 10x15 space for about $2000/mo (USD) in midtown.
I remember a few places under $2000 ish had features such as: toilets next to the kitchen sink, the shower in the closet (they so respectfully called it a "water closet", NO closets at all (I currently have ONE), the sink/kitchen/toilet/bed in one box of a room, no windows, etc.....
I live in harlem near cloumbia now and I at least get a SMALL 1br for $1500 plus utilities. (about $2000/mo) |

You have to be very careful, i went in france and Italy last summer, everything is more expensive then here, exept, shoes, real cheap food (as bread and pizza), and wine/alcool.
hits the public market, and buy your stock day by day...
have a nice trip btw!
