So I recieved a message from the University of Windsor yesterday from the grad studies secretary in the Sociology Dept. I was nervous b/c I thought they were gonna tell me I didn't get accepted or I messed up on the application. I called her back today and low and behold...I GOT ACCEPTED TO THE SOCIOLOGY PROGRAM!
I can't even begin to explain what a huge weight that was that was lifted off my shoulders. I totally didn't think I would get in. Just yesterday actually, I was talking to Cale about how I've heard other people say they got accepted, yet I still didn't know! I was trying to think about what I was going to do with my life. :(
I'm still waiting to hear from the Communications & Social Justice program at the University of Windsor and the U of T for Criminology.
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!! |

The reason I prefer Windsor to U of T re: law school is b/c of the program. U of T is very very competitive; every man for themselves. Whereas Windsor's law school is more community oriented. Everyone still has to do their own work obviously, but people rely on each other as support systems to help motivate each other. |
awwww. cute. because when you become a lawyer that's how it works.
Lisa, you might as well try getting into Toronto, that's where you will get the best training. Not some support group. |

If I get in I'll consider it. I know it's hard to get in. You need exceptional grades and an amazing LSAT score. I took a mock LSAT and got 50% :( So I'm enlisting in one of the courses from the Princeton Review or Kaplan in the fall to help me.
I'm going to apply to U of T, York, Windsor, Western...a few other places. I don't think I will apply to Simon Fraser or Ottawa though b/c I can't see myself going that far away. |

You should really consider U of T. I am not a lawyer but I know it's got a great reputation in Canada and I believe it has a program where you could also take the bar for a US state like New York.
For example, say a person is US citizen but wants to establish residency in Canada, this skill set would be very helpful ;D
Yeah it may be more competitive but the legal profession is VERY competitive and not so "community" so you should factor this in. |
