First gig summary

| So I played out on stage for the first time two days ago at Board Up Miami 2007 (www.boardup.net) and it was a resounding success. Red Bull provided two 1000 mk2s and a DJM 600, and I brought my laptop, ext. HD and Torq. It performed flawlessly both on Wed and today (it's a 4 day event, so two more days for me.) Not one hiccup or stutter. The event is right on the beach so I got to check out the pro wakeboarders wizzin' by as I spun. I played a lot of beachy, funky prog house and house. I split time with some local radio DJ's. One guy said he'd been DJing for 23 years. At one point I came on after him and I could tell...he had the headphone volume up at max! My ears would bleed if I had left it like that...crazy. The other DJ was pretty much all electro and the crowd watching the event didn't really like it (I'm not a fan either). So I stuck to the funky stuff and it was all good. No wrecks for me. One freak out moment came as I played my first track on the first day (Kris Menace - Fairlight) and as I went to cue up the next track I couldn't hear anything in the headphones. I freaked out...checked all connections, and finally realized I forgot to push the ch 4 cue button (I'm used to a 2 ch. DJM 400). I wanted to smack myself in the face. So yeah, it's going well so far! |

Got my first club gig tonight at a local club.
Should be fun. (helps when you're friends with the people running the nights) :D |
