mod club closes early ... and isnt kenny glasgow going to close the night anyways? im sure booka shade will be done by 1:30 / 2:00 and then you can head to TiL for lawler!

Mod has been open til close to 4 for some events lately - with TIL closing at 5 or 6 that's not a big difference!

I'm sure you could catch part of both though - it's just a matter of paying 2 covers and only hearing partial sets of both.

Although it is possible to do both, you should expect that Lawler will be extremely busy and you might not get in when you come from The Mod Club.

My personal reason for choosing Lawler is that although I know Booka Shade will be fun, Lawler in Toronto always has the potential for magic. Think about all of the memorable parties that people talk about every year, and think about the name you keep hearing: Lawler.

No, Booka Shade might not be back for a while (if ever), but as someone said before, there are very few DJs I'd miss a Lawler party for, and Booka Shade is definitely not one of them.

I'm not too worried about the potential of missing some Lawler magic. IMO, real magic is almost always unpredictable, and usually happens when you are not looking for it. Besides, I'm sure jon jon will deliver plenty-o'-magic the night before at Hotel...:whip:

Furthermore, TIL always has a higher an average potential for disaster, especially when the place is rammed full of guys who have had too much to drink....

Lawler on NYD was perfect because the upper level was not full. I don't expect there to be as much room to get around on the 16th...

Still leaning towards Booka.

Screw Lawler and screw B. Shade save yourself for Derrick May!

OK I am totally BIASED (lol) but yea for real go with Lawler if you are into his sound.

I dont think he was on his A-game on New Years Day though it was also his 6th gig in 6 nights (Mexcio => Vegas => LA => Montreal (Tribe+Circus) => Toronto) so I think this time around he is going to be up for completely obliterating TiL. Plus its the first night of the residency so i'm sure hes going to want rock it dirty with some edgier upfront sounds.

Random notion: if LO3 is minimal, I'm turning in my Lawler card for life.

Jesus, New Years wasn't his A game?

I am scared to think where it goes from there.
I think i will go to this is london right now with a lawn chair and a thermos of hot chocolate and wait for the doors to open.
