I bought IM's 'Im the Supervisor' album a while back and I think it is sheer class. So I thought I'd check out other psy producers and none of them have come close IMO. So I went and bought all of IMs other albums and although they're good, they haven't got that same sound like their Supervisor album.
I like the way how IM's tracks on that album had melodies to them and were quite uplifting.
Tracks I really liked were:
Ratio Shmatio
Muse Breaks (Remix)
Cities Of The Future
Frog Machine
Bombat
So... can anyone recommend any other psy producers that create this kind of psy trance please? |

That doesn't surprise me in the slightest as it has a more "accessible" sound to it.
That's why I haven't had much luck in searching for other artists of a similar style. |

IM have gone downhill BIGTIME and are fairly unique I think with their sound. Known really as Psy-Cheese.
Check out Skazi too for more of that kind of stuff. Maybe a bit of Sub6 as well. |

IM's whimsical plastic-sounding circus stuff is not very representative of psytrance in general. Thus, those who don't like them, like me, will say they give psy a bad name. Some people who dislike their recent works still hold Classical Mushroom as a landmark album or in some way respect their work, i never liked it at all and imo they're incredibly overrated. However, there are some tracks i think are good or at least enjoyable, but nothing more.
If you want good and even slightly insane quality psy (and goa) you should concentrate on Hallucinogen, or why not Youth. |
