computer audio settings help plz

k so on my old laptop, when i went to the windows mixer, then went to recording, it had microphone, line in, and 'audio mix', which was essentially whatever was being played
so i could open up cooledit/audition and hit record to rip audio from a movie or something, simple as that
now i got a new laptop and haven't known how to do it, and there's seriously gotta be a way
anyone got any idea?

well lets make it quick. why the would you want to take a digital source, start playing, then capture it as ANALOG!? thats just dumb. do you want to rip the sound out of a video? theres applications to just take it out directly. no digital to analog to digital conversion.
just so you understand what im saying...its like taking a picture. printing it then scanning it back into the computer. why the hell would you do that when you have a digital copy? |

i don't know which direction you're going here, but i think i might have a clue.
1. Double click your Volume icon.
2. Click "Options" and "Properties"
3. Click "Recording" under "Adjust Volume For"
4. Select which volume controls you want to use for recording.
5. Click "Ok"
is this it ?

I don't think he's talking about going from digital to analog and back. I know it's an option on some software where you can record what your audio card is receiving. Don't know what it is though. |

With Creative sound cards, there is a 'what you hear' option to record with. |

if thats the case then you would use a stream ripper. |
