Impressive Kotsy !

My friend gave me a framed autograph of Lawler on his Lights Out Tour a few yrs back when she saw him at a rare appearance in Ottawa. Pretty touching.

Besides that, I too grabbed some posters from my Ibiza trips. Literally ripped them right off the walls they were plastered on. They actually sat at my friend's place in the UK for years as we missed each other at our contact point (to get my stuff as I was backpacking) a few days after 9/11 at central station - absolute mayhem as you could imagine.

My fav flyers from the 90's events I attended are in my safe with my deed to my house and passport. Some are from Industry, Sona, Atomic, Syrous, Stereo, Christian Island WEMF, one signed from Carl Cox at Industry in '98, the connected parties.

As with you all I'm sure, when I look at the flyers, they always bring me back in time. I used to write a journal in my little red book of events I attended, friends that I was with, tracks played,...but then found this to be a bit of a chore!

In recent years, I'm just right-clicking/saving like mad all the flyers I see on the web to events I know I'll be hitting, especially the wmc ones. But I still go to Grooveman Records for the sole purpose of getting those ultra-glossy flyers for my collection. :)(can't be good for the environment!)

agreed. kotsy, that wall is amazing!

and lisa, organising is fun, but can you imagine you and i trying to do this? we'd still be at the drawing board, talking about matching colours and linking by genre and ...it would be an endless task

Lol it took Kotsy 3 months...I estimate it would take us 3 years haha

Really cool. Just be careful cause the colors will start to fade depending on placement and sunlight.... dust etc.

I did the same thing too and figured i couldnt keep up.

Ditto.

I used to put a few flyers of upcoming events on a thin shelf and kept it rotating.

It actually took me 7 months (since I moved in) but a large portion of that time was just waiting for new flyers/posters to come out. 3 months is the period between the panoramic shot earlier in the thread and the one I posted last night.

Thankfully I almost have the entire room covered (I'm still not finished)

No worries for fading here. This is in a basement with no windows ;)

Snapped a bunch of photos before I moved out of my place a year and a half ago. Just uploaded them to facebook yesterday so here they are.

In total, there was 1571 flyers, 104 posters, 184 wristbands (84 of them CZ), 22 Set Times ad 46 flyer cards.

I invited my next door neighbour Mark Oliver (yes, really) in to see it before I took it down as his name was definitely on the walls more than any other. His reaction was a very humbled "yeah, the guv had some really good looking flyers years ago" lol.

Knowing I would never put this many flyers up, I threw out over 1,000 flyers that would never make the cut to any future smaller version.

I'll start with an animated gif of it being taken down (and put back up)

Dior Homme
That's incredible. How many events did you actually attend?

I have a small box I won't throw out. But they were only from 2002-2012 roughly. Maybe 30-40. Nothing like this.

LightsOut
miss that room :(
