and no, this isn't about farts!
I bought my truck on May 13,2005. Since then, i've been trying really hard to keep all my gas[oline] receipts. Everytime i'd put gas in, i'd just shove the piece of paper into the glove box.
Well, the box was getting rather full, so i figured i'd total it all up and see what the damage was.
I had 66 receipts total - which is pretty accurate...i'm thinking i may be missing about 4-8. Each entry I made, i noted the following info:
date, price per gallon, total cost, total amount of gallons.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Some stats:
Highest price per gallon paid : $3.059 on May 26th, 2006 [just outside of Chicago].
Highest gas bill: $57.00 [same date].
Lowest price per gallon paid: $1.869 on May 17, 2005 [just outside of des moines, ia]
Lowest gas bill: $5.05 [paid with cash...i was on EMPTY and needed some fumes bad!]
My gas tank holds 21.1 gallons. most amount of gallons i put in during ONE fillup: 20.178 gallons on fillup. total cost: $41.75 [$2.069/gallon on Nov 13, 2006...in Biloxi, MS]
---------------------------------------------------------------------
here comes the real damage:
Average Pirce per gallon : $2.473 :(
Total amount of gas consumed: 861.688
Total amount of $ paid since: $2,1244.44! :eyes:
Some notes: I use my BP Chase gas/credit card for EVERYTHING. and i earn certain points per things and whatnot. well, each time i get $25 earned up, i get a gas card for $25. I know i've gotten at least 8 of these things since i've bought my truck. so that's another $200 worth of gas [that i didn't pay for tho, so it wasn't included in total cost]. |

i remember seeing how expensive gas was in Germany. probably like 3x as much as I pay now. but still. its extra costs like this that i think people don't really think about when purchasing a vehicle.

well sure, we all want cars w/ good gas mileage. except for those asss that drive Hummers in downtown chicago [1 highway/ 0 city].
but to really think about how much you will spend in your vehicle's lifetime....i mean, it adds up fast. |

on the interstates, i can get around 400-425 miles. city driving? more like 375 :(
a good tip that i learned, which may suck for some, is not too speed to much. apparently around 65-70 is the prime speed for getting the best MPG |
