hey man,
its a nice tune but the whole middle bit gets a bit boring and doesnt seem to lead anywhere, it needs a bigger build up but shorter imo.
the whole sound is good, sounds nice and deep, mayb the pad in the middle could be layered a bit more, sounds a bit thin.
Apart from that, its ok. :) |

Hi lee, cheers for listening! yeah seems to take ages to do anything maybe need to half the brakedown. What do u mean/suggest for layering the pad????
Also ive burned a copy off and played it and when i mix it the percussion is no way near as clear as the last track played, any ideas on how to get the percussion up their without it sounding to loud / high frequencies. Or is this a mastering issue as ive not mastered the track at all??
Cheers for your reply though muchos appriciated!! |

| hi there, what i mean by layering the pad, what i do, in the program reason, i split the output of a synth and make 3 or 4 sepearate tracks of the same synth, pan one full right, one full left and the other middle, and give them slightly different effects, more or less, it gives a much bigger sound. Mayb also another different patch playing the same notes alonside the original one, but not as loud, mayb panned a bit to one side. also mastering does in the end make a big difference especially i think in making the quiet build up bits really stand out. if you want i can show you a before and after of one of my tracks, its very different. as for the hi hats, i use an eq to make them sound more crisp, cut out the low freq end and slightly raise the mid to high ends, to suit. also i use compressors a lot to achieve a bigger sound with most things like bass lines, bass drums, synths, well lots of things, but not everything. you probably know some of this, but maybe it might help. im not saying im perfect but it has helped me make better sounding music. :) |
